The Charlatans announce takeover of Manchester's Oldham Street

The Charlatans announce takeover of Manchester's Oldham Street The Charlatans are planning a day of special events as they prepare a takeover of Oldham Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter – and these include a pop-up diner, a record store signing and money-can’t-buy merchandise. The events are taking place to celebrate the release of their 13th studio album, Different Days on May 26. As previously reported on Gigwise, the album is set to feature a host of guest stars including – deep breath – Paul Weller, Johnny Marr, New Order’s Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert, Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Anton Newcombe, Lambchop’s Kurt Wagner and Factory Floor’s Nik Void. So what to expect from the takeover? For starters singer Tim Burgess will be opening his own diner, Tim Peaks, at 7.30am to serve his own brand of coffee in Different Days coffee mugs along with damn fine cherry pie and all soundtracked by playlist put together by Burgess. Over at The Koffee Pot Bar and Café, a palyback of the album commences at 7am while the Oxfam Emporium will be selling exclusive t-shirts, prints, badges and one-off prints from 10am. Album signings by The Charlatans will take place from midday at Piccadilly Records and the first 150 people through the door will also be offered wristbands for an extra special event that will take place several days later. And if that wasn’t enough, Tim Peaks FM window stickers will appear randomly throughout the day.
