Nick Jonas jumps in to replace sick Demi Lovato on TRL

Nick Jonas jumps in to replace sick Demi Lovato on TRL Nick Jonas turned in a huge favour for ill friend Demi Lovato on Wednesday (04Oct17) when he agreed to fly to New York and step in for her on newly revamped MTV show TRL. Lovato was supposed to appear on the programme and become the first celebrity to perform live in the new-look TRL studio in Times Square, but she called in sick. Ever the professional, the Cool for the Summer singer didn't leave producers scrambling to find a replacement at such short notice - she arranged for pal Jonas to take her place. The Jealous star performed his new single Find You after flying in from Canada at the last minute and then updated fans on his sick friend. "I think she's doing OK and recovering," he said. "I was happy to be able to jump down and come and hang out with all of you today." Nick last appeared on TRL when he was a member of the Jonas Brothers. Meanwhile, earlier this week, Demi played coy when she was asked to confirm or deny if her racy new song Ruin the Friendship is about Nick, the brother of her former flame Joe Jonas. Fans have been talking about the suggestive track for weeks, with many convinced it's about her relationship with her former tourmate. Demi was quizzed about the song during a recent taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in America, but she stayed mum on the subject. "Something that I will always keep to myself is who I write my songs about," the star said.

Demi Lovato is living her best life. The pop star sat down with Elvis Duran and The Z100 Morning Show on Thursday "Last year, I said to myself, 'Oh my God, I'm getting older, and I don't have a lot of time to accomplish the things I want to, and why don't I have this by now, or that,'" she continued.

Demi Lovato is planning to stay single for the near future, so she can learn to "fall in love" with herself.

The Cool for the Summer hitmaker parted ways with longtime love Wilmer Valderrama in June, 2016, and she went on to enjoy brief romances with mixed martial arts fighters Luke Rockhold and Guilherme Vasconcelos, who she broke up with in early May (17) after going public with their relationship last December (16).

Demi is now enjoying the single life and insists she has no desire to get back into a serious relationship until she finds herself.

"I think I found her, and I think I'm still finding her," she tells U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight about focusing on her own needs. "And that's why I'm not diving into anything with anyone. I value my time by myself now, and I value my time with my friends. And I just have learned to really appreciate my me time and getting to know myself and learning to fall in love with myself before I fall in love with anyone else."

Demi opened up about her split from Wilmer months after they broke up, revealing the romance with the That '70s Show actor was a constant reminder of her previous substance abuse and mental health battles, which she wanted to leave firmly in her past.

"I think it's healthy to be able to start over with someone else," the singer told Glamour magazine. "Being sick was always a part of my relationship with him; I always had something wrong with me. I needed to let go of that. It was hard to depart from somebody who saw everything, but it may be nice to start fresh with somebody. Because that person I was when I was a lot younger is not who I am today."

Demi Lovato: 'Maintaining recovery is a constant challenge' .
Demi Lovato's decision to maintain her sobriety is a constant "challenge". The Sorry Not Sorry singer, who has previously gone to rehab for drink and drug addictions as well as eating disorders, opens up about her life in new YouTube documentary series Simply Complicated. In an interview promoting the series, Demi admitted that she found it difficult speaking about the less than stable nature of her recovery because she felt it would compromise her position as a role model to so many young fans. "I think what was difficult about the process was being honest about where I am in my life today," she told Billboard.com. "Telling the world that I'm not the poster child for recovery. Sometimes it is a struggle, and sometimes I still deal with issues that I have suffered from in the past. It's a challenge to maintain recovery, and I talk about that in the film." Demi added that she found it hard to admit that she's "not perfect" while being filmed, but hopes her story will inspire others. "I think explaining that on-camera was difficult for me, but it's needed. People need to hear that it's not a perfect journey and every day is easy; some days are challenging," the 25-year-old said. Other subjects Demi discusses in the documentary include her sexuality - which has been speculated about for many years.
