Mary J. Blige's ex has spousal support increase shut down

Mary J. Blige's ex has spousal support increase shut down Mary J. Blige's estranged husband has been denied his request to increase the amount of temporary spousal support he receives from the R&B superstar. Martin 'Kendu' Isaacs, who was once Blige's manager, filed court papers this week (begs23Oct17) asking for his monthly payments to be bumped up to $65,000 (£49,000) from the $30,000 (£22,650) he already receives every four weeks. In documents obtained by TheBlast.com, he claimed he was close to becoming destitute after failing to find work since their separation in the summer of 2016, and accused Mary of making things worse for him by singing about their marital breakdown on tracks like Love Yourself and Set Me Free. Kendu insisted he was entitled to the extra spousal support cash since Mary was using their split to boost her career and her bank balance. However, the judge overseeing their divorce didn't agree with Kendu's argument, and shelved his motion for more money on Wednesday (25Oct17), ruling the topic, along with a number of other financial issues, should be further discussed once the case goes to trial. Until then, Blige must continue paying her ex $30,000 a month. The No More Drama hitmaker previously criticised the judge's decision to award Issacs temporary financial support, after accusing him of being unfaithful during their 12-year marriage. "How is it that somebody gets to cheat and destroy everybody's life but I've got to pay for it?" she told the crowd at her 2017 Essence Fest gig in July (17).

Belafonte's lawyer, Philip Cohen, was also furious, telling the Los Angeles Superior Court judge that Mel's failure to appear was grounds for throwing out the case entirely. But Juhas sided with Mel, adding, "I hope she is telling the truth.”

Mel filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years in March, alleging Stephen abused her mentally and physically throughout their 10 year marriage. Stephen denies all the accusations and has accused his soon-to-be ex of exhibiting a “habitual and consistent addiction” to cocaine and alcohol during their relationship.

Court officials have also been told that Mel lived a life so "extravagant" she has already "wiped out" the huge $50 million (£38 million) fortune she amassed during her time as a Spice Girl.

Meek Mill's lawyer wants judge removed from case .
Meek Mill's lawyer is planning to formally request a new judge to oversee the rapper's probation violation appeal after he was handed a two-to-four year sentence. On Monday (06Nov17), Pennsylvania judge Genece Brinkley ruled Mill, real name Robert Rihmeek Williams, should serve at least two years behind bars for breaking the terms of his probation from a 2008 drug and gun bust after agreeing to plea deals following two arrests earlier this year (17). Her punishment came as a surprise to Mill and his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, as the prosecutors in the case had recommended he be spared jail. Mill checked in to prison on Wednesday (08Nov17), but his legal representative has already started working on his client's appeal and he is now seeking to remove Brinkley from the case altogether, citing a number of accusations of misconduct. Among the incidents Tacopina will be detailing in his court filing includes the judge's alleged recommendation that Meek record a cover of Boys II Men's On Bended Knee and give her a 'shout out' - an idea the rapper scoffed at last year (16). According to Tacopina, Meek's ex-girlfriend, Nicki Minaj, was a witness to the exchange, which took place in the judge's chambers after she requested a private chat during a hearing. The lawyer also alleges Brinkley told Meek to leave his deal at Roc Nation and sign to her friend's management firm.
