Taylor Swift references Kanye West feud on Reputation

Taylor Swift references Kanye West feud on Reputation Taylor Swift seemingly references her feud with rapper Kanye West in a track on her new album Reputation. The Shake It Off star seemed to make a nod to their feud on the album's first single Look What You Made Me Do, which was released in August (17), but fans noticed more obvious mentions in This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things after her album was released on Friday. "It was so nice being friends again, there I was giving you a second chance," she sings. "But you stabbed me in the back while shaking my hand. And therein lies the issue, friends don't try to trick you. Get you on the phone and mind-twist you, and so I took an axe to a mended fence." Taylor originally fell out with Kanye in 2009 after he interrupted her speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, but they eventually reconciled. It reignited again in 2016 when Kanye released his track Famous, in which he rapped he thought he might "still have sex" with Taylor and added, "I made that b**tch famous". Kanye insisted he had received Taylor's prior approval, something which she denied. Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian then weighed in and shared a video of Kanye on the phone to Taylor, showing that she was aware of the lyrics. After the singer slammed them for painting her as a liar, she stepped out of the spotlight.

Many took notice that the release date of Taylor Swift ’ s upcoming album fell on a very significant anniversary for her longtime foe, Kanye West . November 10 is the 10th anniversary of his mother Donda’s passing.

Kanye West fans reportedly streamed 'Hey Mama' 700,000 times on Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' release date.

The 27-year-old pop star dropped her new record on November 10, which fans of the 40-year-old rapper pointed out was the 10-year anniversary of the 'All Day' hitmaker's mom Donda West's death.

Though sources close to Taylor insisted there was "no correlation", the rap star's following had made various social media accounts leading to his 2005 song - from the LP 'Late Registration' - about his mother's passing subsequently seeing a substantial hike in streams on Spotify on the very same day.

Taylor Swift confirms Ed Sheeran and Future collaboration on new album

Taylor Swift confirms Ed Sheeran and Future collaboration on new album Taylor Swift has confirmed she collaborated with Ed Sheeran and Future on a track for her new album Reputation. The 27-year-old singer is gearing up to release her sixth record on Friday (10 Nov 17). However, after the track listing was leaked online, Taylor decided to give fans a look at the official line-up for the upcoming offering.

Kanye West fans are already over Taylor Swift ' s album , and it hasn't even come out yet. Taylor announced that her sixth album Reputation will be released on November 10, which is also the anniversary of the death of Donda West , Kanye 's mother.

To prevent any of Taylor Swift ’ s new Reputation singles from achieving number 1 on the day of the album ’s release , Kanye West fans are encouraged to play his song “Hey Mama” as many times as possible, with the goal of getting Kanye ’s Late Registration song to number 1 on streaming platforms.

According to website The Ringer, the track went from 23.6 million to 25.3 million steams within 24 hours.

A spokesperson for Taylor previously commented on the coincidental release date, saying: "It is standard practice that releases come out on Fridays and we locked in this release date based on other Universal Music Group releases. There is no correlation."

The pair have been embroiled in a long-running feud ever since the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when he interrupted her acceptance speech for Best Female Video.

Kanye argued Beyonce was more deserving of the prize and although they buried their differences, he reignited the rivalry when he made reference to Taylor in his song 'Famous'.

On the track, Kanye says: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why, I made that b***h famous."

Meanwhile, the lead single on 'Reputation, 'Look What You Made Me Do', features a number of apparent digs at the likes of Kanye and his wife Kim Kardashian West, among others.

Taylor slams someone for their "tilted stage", something Kanye had during his 'Saint Pablo' tour in 2016, when she sings: "I don't like your little games/ Don't like your tilted stage/ The role you made me play/ Of the fool/ No, I don't like you."

A spokesperson for Spotify is yet to comment.

Taylor Swift shares heartfelt letter with fans .
Taylor Swift has written an inspirational letter to fans for U.S. retailer Target's special edition of her new album Reputation. The Look What Made You Do hitmaker is famous for the direct and common sense advice she shares, for young women in particular, and her new piece, Prologue, is no exception. It serves as the introduction for a book of her personal poetry, the free gift fans receive when they purchase hard copies of the album at the store. "Here's something I've learned about people," she begins the piece, which discusses fame, social media, and the challenges facing her own generation. "We think we know someone, but the truth is that we only know the version of them they have chosen to show us. We know our friend in a certain light, but we don't know them the way their lover does. Just the way their lover will never know them the same way that you do as their friend" "We may hear rumors about a person and believe those things to be true," Taylor continues. "We may one day meet that person and feel foolish for believing baseless gossip." She also touches on the perils of posting pictures online "to curate what strangers think of us", only to later realise that the reality is more about "cracks and scars and blemishes". She issues no judgement, insisting "humans are intrinsically impossible to simplify" and "never just good or just bad".
