  Zlatan Ibrahimovic out for the rest of the season Manchester United have been dealt a major blow to their hopes for the remained of the season with the news that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to miss the finals games of the campaign with a knee injury. The striker went down with a knee injury last in the second half of last night’s Europa League quarter-final second-leg victory over Anderlecht where he planted his leg in an awkward position before falling to the deck grasping at the injured knee. The Daily Mail understand the Swede has been ruled out for the rest of the season following the injury, meaning United will miss him in their pursuit of a top four finish as well as their Europa League semi-final clash with Celta Vigo. Ibrahimovic has netted 28 goals in all competitions for United this season following his free transfer move from PSG last summer and we could have seen the last of him at Old Trafford seeing as his contract expires at the end of the season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic left Manchester United's Europa League quarterfinal second leg against Anderlecht on Thursday with an injury at the end of regulation.

The veteran United striker landed awkwardly after challenging Kara for a high ball in the 92nd minute of regulation time and went down for treatment when the second half finished. Ibrahimovic subsequently hobbled down the tunnel with the assistance of medical staff and was replaced by Anthony Martial for the additional 30 minutes.

Marcus Rashford eventually scored early in the second period of extra time to give United a 2-1 win at Old Trafford for a 3-2 aggregate victory and a place in the semifinals.

It was the second major blow of the match for United, which had already lost Marcos Rojo to a knee injury that resulted in him being taken off on a stretcher in the first half.

Rojo's issue adds to manager Jose Mourinho's defensive troubles, with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones already ruled out until next month.
