It appears the Cavaliers and Warriors are set for Round 3 in the NBA Finals.

After splitting each of the last two NBA Finals, the two teams are cruising through their respective conferences again this postseason. Friday, Cleveland dismantled the Celtics, 130-86 in Boston to take a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference finals.

This game got ugly quickly.

Cleveland jumped out to a commanding 32-18 lead after the first quarter, but things were just getting started. The Cavaliers, playing in a hostile environment, outscored the Celtics 40-13 in the second quarter to open up a 41-point lead heading into the break, which was the largest halftime lead in playoff history.

LeBron James, who was not nominated for league MVP when the list came out Friday evening, scored 30 points with seven assists, four rebounds and four steals. His four steals helped him pass Michael Jordan for the second-most in NBA playoff history.

James also had a plus-40 ratio in the first half. That gaudy number was the best by any player in the first half of a playoff game in the last 20 postseasons.

Not only has James been a handful for Boston defenders this series, but Kevin Love has also been nearly unstoppable at times. Love scored 21 points with 12 rebounds Friday in just 27 minutes of action.

Celtics All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas made about as little an impact as a player can make in a game. After missing all six of his shot attempts in the first half, he was held out of the second half with a "right hip strain," according to the team.

NBA playoffs: Celtics vs. Cavaliers Game 3 live updates, score, highlights Game 3 of the NBA's Eastern Conference finals can't be much worse than Game 2, when the second-seeded Cavaliers led the top-seeded Celtics by 41 points at the half and won the game by 44 in Boston. Then again, the Celtics won't have point guard Isaiah Thomas on Sunday night, or for the remainder of the postseason, because of a hip injury that will be examined Monday. As if James wasn't motivated enough heading into this game, Celtics forward Jaylen Brown said hours before tipoff that he wasn't scared of James, and that he was "just a regular guy".

While in life that sentiment may be true, it wasn't the smartest thing for a rookie to say about the league' best player right before the game.

To Brown's credit, he did score 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting to lead the Celtics.

It was pretty much predetermined before the season even started that the Cavs and Warriors would reach the Finals. There has been nothing, in either the Western or Eastern Conference finals' series, to suggest that will not happen.

Warriors (2-0) at Spurs 9:00 p.m. ET — Kawhi Leonard remains questionable to play with his ankle injury. Even if he does suit up, he will likely be less than 100 percent. San Antonio looked ready to threaten Golden State midway through Game 1, but Leonard's controversial injury has swung this series firmly back into the Warriors' hands. The trio of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green have been playing great, so it will be tough for San Antonio to keep everyone in check.
