Six teams in the race to sign Kurt Zouma

Six teams in the race to sign Kurt Zouma While we’re no closer to sorting out the future of Kurt Zouma, more and more clubs from across Europe have joined the race to sign the out-of-favour centre-back. The Mirror claim that six clubs are interested in Zouma: Ligue 1 clubs OGC Nice, Marseille and Lyon, La Liga outfits Sevilla and Valencia and Serie A side Inter Milan. A severe knee injury suffered midway through the 2015/16 season delayed Zouma’s start of the season during the last campaign and limited him to just three Premier League starts and 14 appearances across all competitions. It appears as if Antonio Conte has come to the decision to send the France international out on a season-long loan to play some regular games having fallen behind Nathan Ake and now Andreas Christensen in the pecking order. Chelsea want to improve their defence this summer and are said to be closing in on a deal for Juventus wing-back Alex Sandro while they appear to have missed out on his teammate, Dani Alves, who is tipped to join Manchester City.

The German club are keen on taking the French international on a temporary basis, but Antonio Conte wants to add to his defence, rather than lose players.

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is attracting interest from Ligue 1 sides Lyon and Nice, according to talkSPORT.

Zouma looks likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, either on loan or on a permanent basis, following a lengthy injury lay-off last season.

Both Nice and Lyon are said to be closely following the 22-year-old’s situation at Stamford Bridge.

Nice would appear to be favourites to sign the Chelsea centre-back after they finished third in Ligue 1 last season, securing Champions League football for the upcoming campaign.

Lyon have also been heavily linked with a bid for out-of-favour Chelsea forward Bertrand Troare.

Zouma signed a five-and-a-half year contract for Chelsea in 2014 when he signed from Saint-Etienne.

The defender, who has been capped twice at international level for France, is hoping to gain some regular first-team football next season as he looks to boost his chances of playing in next summer’s World Cup.

Zouma aiming to stay at Chelsea .
Kurt Zouma has expressed his desire to remain at Chelsea this summer amid numerous links away. Speaking to France Football, as cited by West London Sport, Zouma said: ““I am very happy at Chelsea. I hear the rumours. It’s flattering.”” ““It means I’m a player people are looking at, but I am not going to stop there. My objective is to stay at Chelsea.”” Zouma acknowledged the tight schedule that the Blues will face next term, and sees this as an opportunity to stake a claim in the starting lineup. ““Next season we will start from scratch and there will be a lot of games. It is up to me to work hard.”” After rupturing his cruciate ligament back in February of 2016, Zouma missed several months of game time but managed to get back into the squad at the backend of last season. He managed to complete 90 minutes of football on just one occasion – the penultimate game of the campaign at home to Watford. Zouma will reportedly be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge this summer on a loan deal, with Chelsea having an abundance of top quality central defenders available to them. However, it looks like he’s keen to stay put.
