West Ham looking to move for United defender Smalling

West Ham looking to move for United defender Smalling West Ham are claimed to be one of three Premier League clubs willing to make a move to sign Manchester United defender Chris Smalling. According to a report from the Daily Star today, United boss Jose Mourinho is keen on offloading the England international this summer. This has prompted the likes of the Hammers, Everton and Crystal Palace to express an interest in signing him. Smalling had fallen somewhat out of favour in Mourinho’s plans throughout the course of the 2016/17 season, and it’s not looking likely that he’ll have a big part to play in the coming campaign. United are close to officially signing Benfica centre back Victor Lindelof for a fee upwards of £30m, and this is set to spell the end of Smalling’s tenure at Old Trafford. West Ham are in need to some defensive reinforcement this summer, with the likes of José Fonte failing to convince since arriving at the London Stadium.

Jose Mourinho is weighing up a £30 million offer to land Portuguese full back Nelson Semedo from Benfica, according to reports in Portugal.

Portuguese paper O Jogo suggest that Mourinho is determined to shake up his defensive options this summer, having already added to his back line with the arrival of Victor Lindelof, also from Benfica.

Semedo, 23, has made 64 appearances for Benfica since 2015 and is being heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

The Benfica full back has also attracted interest from many top European clubs including Barcelona, however, talks have broken down between the two clubs, which could allow United to sneak in.

Reports suggest Mourinho will be looking to offload defenders before making anymore defensive signings with Chris Smalling and Matteo Darmian both rumoured to be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer, with Everton and West Brom keen on taking Smalling away from Manchester.

United receive boost in Under chase .
Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit to sign promising Turkish attacker Cengiz Under. The youngster has been linked with a whole host of top European clubs over the course of the last couple of months, including United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham. However, he recently spoke to news outlet Milliyet in his homeland of Turkey, and admitted that a move to Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge would be his preferred choice this summer. “Every player wants to play in a team like Manchester United or Chelsea. I believe that one day I will play for one of those teams.” The winger was seriously impressive during his breakthrough season in the Super Lig last term, scoring nine goals and racking up a commendable tally of seven assists for Istanbul Basaksehir. Whether United or Chelsea pursue their interest in Under remains to be seen, but it looks as though Under has set his sights on a move to the Premier League in the near future. The 19-year-old has huge potential, and would certainly be an interesting prospect for United.
