Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is one step closer to signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge, according to Di Marzio.

The news comes after a successful meeting with Chelsea CEO Marina Granovskaia had positive results.

The Italian is set to have conclusive talks with Roman Abramovich at the end of the week, in which a new deal is expected to be finalised.

The former Juventus and Italy national team boss took the reigns at Stamford Bridge before the beginning of the season, and took the Premier League by storm. He guided his Chelsea team to 30 wins in 38 games, with The Blues being crowned league champions after a 1-0 win away to West Brom.

They also reached the FA Cup final, as Conte set his sights on a league and cup double in his debut season in England, however their opponents on the day Arsenal had other ideas, defeating Conte’s men 2-1 after extra-time at Wembley.

But reflecting on a very successful season for Chelsea, many fans will feel a new deal for Conte is very well deserved, with the hope that talisman Diego Costa will also remain a Chelsea player next season, as the London club look to defend their title in the 2017/18 campaign.

Chelsea to increase efforts to sign Sandro and Bakayoko .
Chelsea will step up their pursuit of Juventus’ Alex Sandro and Monaco’s Tiemoué Bakayoko this week, with Antonio Conte becoming frustrated at the lack of progress in the transfer market, according to The Guardian. Conte, who is currently holidaying in Italy, is yet to commit to a contract extension with the Premier League champions after growing frustrated at the lack of transfer activity going on at the club. The 47-year-old has had a contract on the table since the end of the season, which if signed, would see him become the highest paid manager in the club’s history. Chelsea will attempt to appease their manager’s frustrations by preparing an improved bid of £55million for Sandro and over £40million for Monaco midfielder Bakayoko. The £55million bid for Sandro is expected to be tabled within the coming days and would become Chelsea’s club record bid. Sandro, who has seven caps for Brazil, has been earmarked by Conte as a potential upgrade on Marcos Alonso at left wing-back and the £55million bid could tempt Juve into selling. French international Bakayoko is set to join Chelsea in a deal worth over £40million after helping Monaco to the Ligue 1 title last season. Chelsea hope to complete both deals as soon as possible as they hope for Conte to sign the improved managerial contract this summer.
