Newcastle reject Middlesbrough offer for Darlow

Newcastle reject Middlesbrough offer for Darlow Middlesbrough have had a loan offer rejected for Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow. According to the Nottingham Post, Middlesbrough are keen on signing the shot-stopper, with Newcastle not opposed to an exit. Newcastle are said to value Darlow at £5m and are unwilling to send him out on loan. Darlow was Newcastle’s first-choice in the Championship last season but looks set to be surplus to requirements under Rafa Benitez next campaign. Matz Sells and Rob Elliot both had spells in goal but it was Darlow who held the gloves for the longest. The young shot-stopper played 34 Championship matches as Newcastle clinched the title and were promoted to the Premier League. The report also claims that Reading and Aston Villa are monitoring the situation and could make an offer. Middlesbrough could yet come back with another concrete offer for the Englishman, as they look for a new number one for the upcoming campaign.

Newcastle are reportedly keen to land promising youngster Harold Voyer this summer, but face competition from Leeds and Fulham.

According to a report from French news outlet Foot Mercato, the Magpies are holding an interest in the 20-year-old defender and could be ready to swoop in the near future.

Voyer was released from PSG in recent weeks at the end of his contract, with the French giants opting against offering him a new deal at the club. This has led to a lot of interest from clubs across Europe, and Newcastle are touted with interest in the defender.

The youngster is available on a free transfer this summer and will have his pick of the destinations at hand. Although a move to Newcastle is undoubtedly the most lucrative on paper, at 20 he will be keen to play regular first-team football.

This could prompt Voyer to favour a move to the Championship, where he’s likely to get more game time.

Newcastle hopeful of pipping Fulham to striker .
Newcastle United appear to be on the lookout for a striker this summer and according to the Chronicle, they are hopeful of pipping Fulham to the signing of Diego Rolan. The Bordeaux forward is looking set for a summer exit from the French club and although Fulham appeared to be leading the race, the Magpies are still in with a genuine chance of landing him. A full Uruguay international, Rolan is ready for a new challenge. He’s said to be keen on making his mark in the Premier League and is relishing the prospect of a test away from Bordeaux. The 24-year-old would reportedly be available for a fee of just £5 million this summer; something that would certainly appeal to Rafa Benitez as he looks to add more firepower to his attacking ranks. Fulham appear to hold the most interest in Rolan, with the Cottagers having already made an offer, but the striker would surely prefer a switch to Newcastle given the attraction of Premier League football.
