Wage demands stalling Javier Hernandez move to West Ham

Wage demands stalling Javier Hernandez move to West Ham West Ham United’s move for Mexican forward Javier Hernandez is stalling due to the striker demanding a whopping £140,000-a-week to play for the Hammers, according to a report on Sky Sports. The London club are desperately looking to sign at least one striker in this summer’s transfer window as manager Slaven Bilic looks to bolster his attacking options following a disappointing campaign in front of goal last season. The Hammers opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen over the possible transfer of Hernandez and the Bundesliga club have been open to the idea of selling the striker but his wage demands are the only thing holding up the deal at the moment. The former Manchester United striker could be available for as little as £13m this summer and West Ham are keen to beat any other club to his signature. Hernandez is open to a move back to the Premier League where he made his name as a natural finisher inside the box. Hernandez has been a steady goalscorer for the German Bundesliga side and has managed to get his name on the scoresheet 39 times in 76 appearances for the club. The 29-year-old struck 11 times in the league last season and his goalscoring trait is what impresses Bilic as he looks to secure his primary target. The Hammers are yet to decide what to do about Hernandez’ wage demands but swift action is required as Everton are monitoring the situation.

West Ham have seemingly put all their eggs in the Javier Hernandez basket, much like they did last summer with Carlos Bacca.

The Hammers are willing to meet the player’s £13m release clause but wage demands in excess of £140,000-a-week are holding up the deal for the time being.

If the club were to bring in the former Manchester United striker he could become the club’s top earner by some distance, but West Ham are aware that they need to pay the top players top dollar to bring them to the London Stadium.

West Ham United are on the verge of agreeing a £145,000-a-week deal with Mexican striker Javier Hernandez as the Hammers prepare to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to his signature, according to a report on the Express. The Hammers have been eager to add a big name striker to their front line in this summer’s transfer window as Slaven Bilic knows that his side struggled in front of goal last season. Last week it looked like a move for Hernandez would break down due to his wage demands but the London club are set to offer the Mexican what he desires to lure him to the London Stadium. The Bayer Leverkusen striker has a £13m buyout clause in his current contract with the German Bundesliga club and is interested in a return to the Premier League. The ex-Manchester United forward has a killer finishing instinct inside the box which is what Bilic is looking for in the transfer market. Hernandez managed to get his name on the scoresheet 11 times in the Bundesliga last season and also registered three assists. The Hammers have spoken to Hernandez’ representatives and a deal is close to being agreed between both parties. The promise of a starting spot seems to have convinced Hernandez to join West Ham after Chelsea had shown interest but couldn’t guarantee him a starting position. The 29-year-old striker is set to become West Ham’s highest paid player.
