Zimmermann enjoying Norwich life so far

Zimmermann enjoying Norwich life so far Norwich City defender Christoph Zimmermann has spoken about his start to life with the club. Zimmermann signed for Norwich earlier this summer on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund II. The German central defender was Daniel Farke’s captain at Dortmund last season and has slotted into City’s backline for pre-season. The 24-year-old is the only Norwich player to have played every minute of pre-season, an ever present against Cobh Ramblers and Lowestoft. Speaking to Norwich’s website, Zimmermann said this: “I didn’t expect to have 180 minutes on the pitch.” “Pre-season is hard, and the training inbetween is hard. Even though I didn’t expect to play all of two matches, it’s been fun.” “At the end of a match you might feel sore but when you’re happy to be here, when you want to play, you can do it.” “Most of the drills we do with Daniel, I already know from there.” “He is making some adjustments for players here, although for myself personally it is good. It’s a learning process for me, being in different surroundings, but I like it.” “I’m used to the long and intense sessions. In pre-season that will be the same at most clubs but I think we have a really smart coach here.” Zimmermann made his first appearance in a Norwich shirt in the 5-0 win over Ramblers last week and put in another composed display against Lowestoft in a 5-1 win on Saturday. Stuart Webber has made it public knowledge that the club are trying to bring another central defender in before the window closes but Zimmermann will be hoping to get as many minutes as possible next season. The towering defender is expected to start against Stevenage on Tuesday, though he may not play the full 90.

Everton have reportedly enquired over the availability of PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe.

The Toffees are surprisingly claimed by French news outlet RMC Sport to have taken an interest in signing the young defender, but PSG have rebuffed their initial interest and are not keen to welcome enquiries about the France Under-21 international this summer.

Kimpembe established himself as one of France’s most promising young defenders last season, demonstrating his quality on a number of occasions under Unai Emery for the then-reigning Ligue 1 champions.

This has inevitably led to interest, and Everton, along with Liverpool, have been cited with admiration for the youngster, who is sure to enjoy an impressive career in the game.

Kimpembe is extremely highly regarded at PSG and it’s therefore understandable that they are keen to keep hold of such a bright prospect.
