Chelsea striker Diego Costa says he will travel to Spain to try and force through a transfer to Atletico Madrid . The Spain international has remained in Brazil over the summer in defiance of Chelsea after he was told by coach Antonio Conte in June that he remains out of his plans for this season.

Diego Costa is reportedly hopeful that a deal can be struck between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, one that will see him return to his former club.

Atleti are set to offer Chelsea £40m up front for the Spanish international, with a further £9m in performance related add-ons.

The player himself has flown to Madrid already as he hopes to push through a move.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Costa is in the Spanish capital where he plans to train at a private facility in an effort to force Chelsea to accept Atleti’s offer and agree to sell him.

The star striker is hoping that a deal can be agreed between the two sides, one that will allow him to train with Diego Simeone’s side until January.

Diego Costa set for Fenerbahce loan deal

Diego Costa set for Fenerbahce loan deal It appears Diego Costa will not be spending his Autumn watching from the stands at Chelsea. The striker, who does not feature in Antonio Conte’s first-team plans, failed to finalise a return to Atletico Madrid this summer due to the Spanish club’s transfer ban and has been left in limbo. Fortunately, the Turkish transfer window remains open and Costa has been in talks over a loan move to Fenerbahce for the last three days and they have progressed well. According to Hurriyet, Costa is set to arrive in Turkey soon to undergo a medical with Fenerbahce ahead of a loan move until January. It’s claimed that the Super Lig side will be covering 75% of Costa’s wages during the loan spell. The Turkish transfer window is open until 8PM tomorrow evening so there is a race against the clock for Fenerbahce and Chelsea to hammer out the finer details of this deal.

Diego Costa plans to continue his Chelsea exile in Madrid in his latest attempt to try to force through a return to Atletico. Striker Costa released a statement on Thursday reiterating the fact he will not return to Chelsea, despite the club ordering him back to their Cobham training ground.

He would be unable to play any games for Atleti until the transfer window opens but he would be able to train with them.

As it stands, Chelsea have been playing hardball over a deal for Costa and him flying directly to Spain is hardly going to impress the powers-that-be at Stamford Bridge.

Wilkins: Costa over Morata .
Diego Costa is a better option for Chelsea than Alvaro Morata, according to Ray Wilkins. Costa has not featured for Chelsea since revealing manager Antonio Conte told him by text that he was no longer in his plans at the end of last season and has not joined up with his team-mates since the start of the new season. In Costa's absence, Morata has scored three goals in his opening five league games since his £70m move from Real Madrid.Former Chelsea assistant manager Wilkins admits Morata is the better player but thinks Costa's character should put him ahead of the Spain international.
