Chelsea players reportedly think Costa is reconsidering stance

Chelsea players reportedly think Costa is reconsidering stance Chelsea’s players reportedly believe that Diego Costa is seriously considering a change in stance on his future at the club. The Spanish international is determined to secure a switch back to Atletico Madrid following his exile from the club, but according to the Telegraph, there is belief among the Chelsea squad that Costa could have a temporary change of heart. The Blues have requested that Costa attends training on several occasions, but the player himself has been striking for some time now. He has been spending the large majority of the last few months in his homeland of Brazil, ignoring Chelsea’s requests. An agreement between the Blues and Atletico Madrid is still yet to be reached, and this has prompted suggestions that Costa will return now and swallow his pride. However, it remains highly unlikely that he will force his way back into Antonio Conte’s plans, as he looks to wait for a move to Atletico in January.

A fee of around €60m has been touted, although it remains to be seen whether Chelsea are willing to sell for a reduced price.

Diego Costa flies to Madrid to try and force through transfer

Diego Costa flies to Madrid to try and force through transfer Diego Costa is reportedly hopeful that a deal can be struck between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, one that will see him return to his former club. Atleti are set to offer Chelsea £40m up front for the Spanish international, with a further £9m in performance related add-ons. The player himself has flown to Madrid already as he hopes to push through a move. As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Costa is in the Spanish capital where he plans to train at a private facility in an effort to force Chelsea to accept Atleti’s offer and agree to sell him. The star striker is hoping that a deal can be agreed between the two sides, one that will allow him to train with Diego Simeone’s side until January. He would be unable to play any games for Atleti until the transfer window opens but he would be able to train with them. As it stands, Chelsea have been playing hardball over a deal for Costa and him flying directly to Spain is hardly going to impress the powers-that-be at Stamford Bridge.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly made a breakthrough in talks with Chelsea over the signing of striker Diego Costa in the winter transfer window. BREAKING : @SkySportsNews understands @Atleti have made a breakthrough in negotiations over @diegocosta's proposed move from

Atletico have stepped up negotiations with Chelsea over the past few days and both clubs look ready to put an end to a troublesome saga. Chelsea are in talks with Atletico Madrid to sell rebel striker Diego Costa for £41m.

The Premier League champions had originally refused to negotiate, and insisted that Costa return to the club and respect the terms of his contract.

But the Spain international has refused, instead uprooting to Madrid with his Chelsea future now seemingly non-existent.

However, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has dismissed reports that a deal could be on the verge of completion.

"If his family is moving [to Madrid], I do not know," he told AS. "What I know is that Costa is a Chelsea player and until January, there is time to talk to his club and with whoever else. We are not going to do anything until January."

Atletico were unable to secure Costa's signature in the summer transfer window, although the club cannot play new signings until January due to a FIFA-imposed transfer ban.

The 28-year-old was Chelsea's top scorer last season, but was informed by Antonio Conte via text prior to pre-season that he was not in the club's plans for the new campaign.
