Liverpool target set for new release clause

Liverpool target set for new release clause Liverpool target Faouzi Ghoulam could be set for a new contract at Napoli, with a release clause. According to Calcio Mercato, if Ghoulam signs a new deal with the Serie A club then he would have a release clause of up to €40m. Ghoulam’s current contract with Napoli expires at the end of the season, which is a concern for the Italian team. They are working hard to tie him down for the future, with Liverpool having the chance to sign him on a free next summer if they fail in doing so. The report claims that Juventus, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid are all eyeing up the left-back and are watching his contract situation very closely. Ghoulam has been impressing for Napoli in the Serie A this season, catching the eye of the three European giants. Liverpool signed Andrew Robertson from Hull in the summer, but are clearly still looking to strengthen their fullback position.

The goalkeeper position has been a problem for Liverpool in the Jurgen Klopp era as their struggling defence continues to make the headlines.

Loris Karius was brought in last summer to compete with and ideally eventually overtake Simon Mignolet as the club’s number one goalkeeper but the German has struggled and repeated made costly errors between the sticks.

For the time being, Mignolet remains the club’s number one and has done fine this season but if Liverpool were offered an upgrade they’d heavily consider one.

One goalkeeper the Reds are supposedly interested in is Inter Milan’s Samir Handanovic.

Leeds United eye loan move for Danny Ings

Leeds United eye loan move for Danny Ings Leeds United are interested in taking Liverpool striker Danny Ings on loan when the January transfer window opens, according to reports. The 25-year-old has hardly featured for Liverpool over the last two seasons because of major injuries and now that he’s back fit, his chances of getting any first-team action look to be very limited. Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke are all ahead of Ings in the pecking order and now that the Reds are no longer in the League Cup, opportunities for Ings to get any game time seem to be non-existent. Leeds are desperate to return to the Premier League and they are well aware of Ings’ record in the Championship. Back in 2013/14, the England international scored 21 times for Burnley as they were successfully promoted and Leeds would be delighted if he could have a similar impact there. A loan move for Ings seems to be in the best interests of all parties involved, time will tell if he does move to Elland Road when the window opens in the New Year.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper is contracted to the Serie A club until the end of the 2018/19 season but he’s revealed that he’s not sure he’ll stay at Inter beyond that.

“I don’t know if I’ll end my career here. My only objective is to play until I am 40, then we’ll see what happen in the future. Now is it time for Inter to step up and make this club return where it belongs. We’ve made some improvements but the next month will be decisive, Inter have done nothing yet.”

The Slovenia international is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe’s top leagues at the moment and would be an excellent addition to the Liverpool side, providing them with a safe and reliable pair of hands in goal.
