Darmian hints at possible Italy return

Darmian hints at possible Italy return Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian is becoming increasingly frustrated about the lack of first team football he is getting, and is believed to be open to a move back to his home country of Italy, according to reports in the Metro. Since joining United from Torino in 2015, the fullback has failed to nail down a regular starting position at Old Trafford, with the likes of Daley Blind, Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, and Ashley Young all fighting for the two fullback spots. Talking to the Italian media during his time away with the international side, the 27-year-old has admitted he hasn’t featured as much as he would’ve liked for Jose Mourinho’s side, and the possibility of returning home to Italy. ‘I made a choice and I don’t regret it, of course it’s normal that any player wants to play as much as possible. I don’t always watch Italian football and I don’t know what will happen in future, maybe there will be a chance to come back one day.’ The full-back is set to feature for Italy in their World Cup qualifier against Macedonia and has heaped praise on Mourinho for the work he has done at Old Trafford. ‘He’s very hungry, he has a huge desire to win trophies and he transmits that hunger and desire to the team. Things are going very well and we hope to continue like this.
