Earlier on in the week, it was said that United had tabled a bid worth in the region of £5 million for the 16-year-old, who has been a big interest for a number of teams around Europe so far this season.

The agent of the player, however, completely dismissed any talk of a deal already being agreed in principle, whilst also stating that some conversations have been held in relation to the transfer of the player.

Man United sign highly-touted Benfica youngster

Man United sign highly-touted Benfica youngster Manchester United have reportedly completed the signing of highly-rated Benfica youngster Umaro Embaló, according to Portuguese paper Record. The Reds have been tracking the 16-year-old forward for almost a year, and the Portuguese under-17 international was in action against the Reds in the UEFA Youth League just last month, playing 25 minutes as Benfica drew 2-2 with Nicky Butt’s side in Lisbon. Embaló, who had also been linked with Real Madrid, will make the move to Old Trafford for an undisclosed fee, and that should be significantly higher than the £4 million offer by United that was reportedly rejected by Benfica in the summer. The Guinean-born youngster has been prolific for both club and country, having scored 15 times in 18 games for Portugal’s under-17 side. This season, he’s provided one goal and one assist for Benfica in the UEFA Youth League, with the Eagles sitting one point off Basel in third. Embaló, who has been likened to former Manchester United man Ángel Di María in style, is a quick, direct forward who is often deployed on the right wing, although he is adaptable enough to play anywhere across the frontline. Once the move is officially complete, he is expected to link up with Kieran McKenna’s under-18 side and if he can prove those comparisons with Di María to be accurate, the future will be bright at the Theatre of Dreams.

Liam Moore responds to reports linking him with move to Celtic .
Reading defender Liam Moore is a reported January transfer target for Celtic and the 24-year-old has admitted that he is aware of the speculation linking him with a move to the Scottish champions. Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen to add depth to his defence when the winter transfer window opens and he is apparently an admirer of Moore. When asked about the stories linking him with a move to Celtic Park, he said: “I just try and concentrate on my job. I’m just happy playing football. I always have in the back of my mind those times when I wasn’t getting any game time. That was only two years ago now, I’m lucky and thankful to be here doing what I’m doing and playing games. Speculation comes and so be it, it’s part of the job.” Reading fought off interest from Leeds United to sign Moore from Leicester City back in August 2016 and the move has worked out well for both the player and the club, so the Royals will not be keen to let him leave. However, if Celtic make a big offer, they may have no choice but to accept but the reported fee of £5miliion seems too low for the Championship side to even consider selling one of their best players.
