Team news: Motherwell vs Celtic

Team news: Motherwell vs Celtic Celtic are on the road once again as they travel to Fir Park on Wednesday night to face Motherwell just three days after their League Cup triumph. The Hoops beat Stephen Robinson’s men 2-0 at the weekend as Brendan Rodgers lifted his fourth consecutive domestic trophy at the club. Motherwell will also travel to Glasgow on Saturday to face the top of the table side, in an unprecedented triple-header in just six days. They currently sit fifth in the league table, and will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment at the weekend with a strong performance at home. Celtic Moussa Dembele will miss the game through injury, and could miss next week’s crucial Champions League clash with Anderlecht. Nir Bitton will also miss Wednesday’s trip after picking up a knock in last week’s loss to PSG having also missed the win on Sunday. Motherwell The Steelmen have no fresh injuries going into the game. Cedric Kipre was red carded at the weekend in the League Cup final but will be free to face the league champions as his ban will carry over into next season.

But after joining Celtic he must have known the welcome he would receive when he ran out there with Dundee . Team-mate Jack Hendry also gave the midfielder a blast moments before his day was done.

BRENDAN RODGERS reckons Dundee defender Jack Hendry could be a Scotland star in the making. The 22 year-old centre half had an impressive game against Celtic today.

Celtic are one of the teams interested in signing Dundee defender Jack Hendry, according to reports.

The 22-year-old has been mightily impressive for Neil McCann’s side this season and is reportedly a target for a few English Premier League sides, as well at the Hoops.

Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Southampton are all apparently keeping tabs on his progress as well, so if Celtic do want to sign him, they might face a bit of a battle to get him.

Hendry joined Dundee from Wigan Athletic in but only did so on a short-team deal, one that now only has has 18 months left to run. Whilst Dundee would not want to let the player go, they are reportedly set to have a meeting this week to decide whether or not to cash in on him now to boost their extremely limited funds.

Celtic and Rangers to battle for Dundee defender in January

Celtic and Rangers to battle for Dundee defender in January Celtic and Rangers will battle for the signature of Dundee defender Jack Hendry in January. The Derry Journal, who cite Football Insider, claim that both teams are keen to sign the youngster. Hendry has impressed in games against both Celtic and Rangers already this season, leaving them considering a move for the player. The defender came through the ranks at Partick Thistle but despite his tender age, has been on the move a lot throughout his career. He has spent time at Wigan, Shrewsbury and MK Dons before moving back to Scotland in the summer, signing a two-year deal with Dundee. Hendry has been ever-present for Dundee in the Scottish Premiership this season. Celtic are currently seven points clear at the top of the league but have been linked with several January moves as they look to build on another strong start to their campaign.

Back in October, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will quick to praise the defender, dubbed “the next John Stones” after he performed well when his side faced Dundee.

He said:

“The boy Hendry at the back I thought was excellent. He’s quick and strong and is a good size. Scotland need centre halves and that looks like a good kid. He’s tall, he can run and he can pass. He looks a talent.”

Celtic look set to add reinforcements to their back line in January and Hendry could be one of the men they look to bring in to help them look to secure another league win, as well as make an impact in the Europa League.

Team news: Celtic v Hamilton .
Brendan Rodgers will look for his side to put all their efforts into domestic matters after learning their European fate, starting with Hamilton on Wednesday. Having been drawn against Zenit St Petersburg on Monday, Celtic will only have to focus on the league this side of Christmas as the festive period draws near. The Hoops lost a two goal lead to Hibernian at the weekend, but extended their lead at the top of the table to five points with a game in hand over second place. Hamilton haven’t won a game since their trip to Ibrox last month and currently sit ninth in the league table. Celtic Patrick Roberts will be out until 2018 with a hamstring that has plagued him since his return to Glasgow at the end of August. Anthony Ralston is training again and won’t need surgery on a meniscus problem that has kept him out of action since September. Hamilton The Accies have no injury concerns going into the game.
