Pochettino made eight changes from the team that drew 1-1 with Watford in the Premier League at the weekend, but his new-look side cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over APOEL at Wembley.

Fernando Llorente and Georges-Kevin N'Koudou both scored their first goals for the club, while Son Heung-min continued his impressive recent form with a wonderful finish.

Manchester United chase Danny Rose

Manchester United chase Danny Rose Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their pursuit in the chase for Tottenham left-back back Danny Rose. This comes as no surprise as reports have emerged that Jose Mourinho is looking into showing Luke Shaw the door in January, with the Englishman’s injury woes and inconsistent performance being cited as the main reasons. Danny Rose has just come back into contention for Spurs a few weeks ago, having been out for most of the current campaign with a knee injury. He’s only featured for 6 games so far this season – a total of 431 minutes in all competitions – while Shaw hasn’t fared much better, with 7 games in all competitions with United’s first team. ESPN FC pundit Alejandro Moreno has claimed that Rose wants to make the move and that it will happen – with his reason being that Mourinho does not care much for Luke Shaw, and that Ashley Young should not be a first choice left back with a club the size of Manchester United. Finally, he said that Rose has been ‘campaigning’ for this for so long – referring to his interview at the beginning of the season in which he criticized his club’s transfer strategy and limited wage structure.

"To finish in a good way was fantastic for us," Pochettino told BT Sport. "Some players who had not played every week had the possibility to play and I am so happy for their performance.

"To finish with 16 points is a fantastic achievement in a difficult group."

Danny Rose, who has spent much of the season watching from the sidelines, was substituted in the second half and appeared to be frustrated by the decision.

"Players are never happy when they are going out," he added. "He had a big cut and the doctors said he needed a stitch and it was impossible to play.

"Of course, the player was frustrated because it was Champions League, but there is nothing wrong."
