Blake Shelton reaches out to students mourning the deaths of car crash victims

Blake Shelton reaches out to students mourning the deaths of car crash victims Blake Shelton has reached out to the classmates of three Massachusetts teenagers who died in a car crash to share the pain of losing his brother. Quaboag Regional High School students Jaclyn R. Desrosiers, Christian J. Congelos, and Lena A. Noonan lost their lives last month (Nov17), and after learning their school pals were struggling to cope with the losses, the singer delivered a message of hope. "It breaks my heart," he said. "I completely know how it feels. I lost my brother in a car accident. I can understand how you guys feel. It’s the worst possible feeling. "It’s confusion. It’s anger. It’s just an overall brokenness that’s just gonna take a lot of time to heal. If you can find comfort in anything, it’s just knowing that they’re all in a better place now and God has a plan." Shelton was a teenager when his big brother Richie, 24, died in a car accident. He added, “I still miss my brother every day, and you’re going to miss those guys every day. I just wanted to say I’m thinking of you and it gets easier, it just takes a long time. Just always honour their memory and never forget about them. God bless you guys. I’m praying for you." Shelton's message now features in an eight-minute video slideshow of photos of the three high school students who lost their lives, according to Taste of Country. Blake heard about the death of the three students when a family friend reached out to the singer's mother and asked if he could help those trying to come to terms with the tragedy.

CJ Ujah, Adam Gemili, Danny Talbot and Nethaneel Mitchell - Blake beat USA to gold as Usain Bolt broke down for Jamaica. “Now we’ve got this gold medal together we can push each other again. None of us are in our prime. We can keep pushing forward.”

"This is my first full year as a professional athlete," said Mitchell-Blake, who also finished fourth in the World Championships 200m final this summer.

"It's a profession now, it's my job. You have to make hay while the sun shines, and I am going to make the most of it while I have this opportunity to do what I love for a living.

"All the pressure I have is internalised. I am my harshest critic. I expect more from myself than probably anyone else out there.

"I want medals - that is how we are judged in this sport. I want to be the best, I am not in it to be a lane-filler.

"I want medals, and I feel that is what you are judged by and I feel that is what I am capable of doing."

Mitchell-Blake will line up alongside some of the world's top sprinters in Glasgow, an event which comes a week before Birmingham hosts the World Indoor Championships.

Nethaneel Mitchell - Blake is used to speed. As one of the fastest men on the planet, it’s all part of the day job. The Commonwealth Games and European Championships will be at the top of Mitchell - Blake ’s target list in 2018 , while he will wait and see how his body responds to training

After that, attention will quickly switch to the Commonwealth Games on Australia's Gold Coast, with the Berlin-hosted Europeans taking centre-stage as a season climax.

"I am really excited to compete in Glasgow for the first time," he added. "After the whirlwind of London 2017 I'm ready to hit the ground running in 2018.

"I haven't run indoors in this country since I was about 13, when my mum bought me a new pair of spikes and I was convinced I was going to run a personal best, but it didn't go according to plan!

"I really want to build on the success that we had as a team and individually this year."

Mitchell-Blake ensured a stunning World Championships climax for the British team as he combined with CJ Ujah, Adam Gemili and Danny Talbot to take gold in a European record time of 37.47 seconds.

"Right after the World Championships was pretty crazy," he said.

"I was getting recognised in quite a few places and I thought, 'I'm a celebrity, I am not quite used to this!' But I enjoyed it and embraced it.

"I watched the video (of the race) again this week, and I got goosebumps and my heart started racing.

"I am just trying to find the balance in accepting what we did, but also acknowledging there is more to be achieved down the line."
