Norwich player ratings: Cardiff (A)

Norwich player ratings: Cardiff (A) Norwich City were left frustrated once again as they lost 3-1 to Cardiff in Wales on Friday night. The Canaries are now eight games without a win in all competitions, despite taking the lead against the Bluebirds. Marco Stiepermann handed Norwich the lead towards the end of the first-half when he drilled in a rasping effort from the edge of the box – his first for the club. Cardiff then made a flying start to the second half as they were awarded a penalty within minutes of kick-off for an alleged push from a corner. Joe Ralls stepped up and slotted home with ease. Junior Hoilet then put the home side ahead when his volley from just inside the box looped over Gunn and into the top corner. There was then a manic few minutes as Gunn gave away and then saved a penalty, with the on-loan keeper staying down the middle and catching Ralls’ penalty. Omar Bogle sealed the win for Cardiff late on, bundling the ball home after Vrancic lost the ball in midfield.

Norwich City ended a run of nine games without a win as they beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 at Carrow Road.

The Canaries found their goalscoring touch for the televised Championship encounter, scoring all three goals in the second half.

It was the visitors, however, who took the lead in the game. Jordan Rhodes headed home from close range after Norwich were caught napping from a throw-in.

Alex Pritchard, on his first start of the season, turned on the accelerator in the second half to burst through the Wednesday defence, with Westwood palming his effort into the path of James Maddison to bundle the ball in.

Here is how we rated the Canaries…

Shrewsbury not interested in selling Jon Nolan .
League Two club side Shrewsbury are adamant that they will not sell Jon Nolan amid interest from Norwich, the Pink Un reports. The 25-year-old has been impressive so far this term, netting five goals in 25 games in tandem with Norwich City loanee Ben Godfrey. Shrewsbury boss Paul Hurst spoke about the situation. “If we’re talking about someone that has scored five goals, he’s certainly one of the factors that has allowed a team that is expecting to be fighting relegation to be at the other end of the table.” The player was signed from Chesterfield during the summer after scoring just one goal for the League Two club in his only season there. He came through the ranks at Everton before spending the rest of his career throughout the Football League and the Conference. At 25, he is starting to reach the age where he should be reaching his peak and will be hoping to really kick on for the remainder of the season. He will hope to be in contention to play in the big game which they have coming up in the FA Cup against West Ham, and Norwich City are sure to keep tabs on the player in future weeks.
