Swansea slap £50m price tag on West Ham target Alfie Mawson

Swansea slap £50m price tag on West Ham target Alfie Mawson West Ham have been told by Swansea boss Carlos Carvalhal that if they want to land Alfie Mawson this month, they will have to stump up a fee of £50 million. Carvalhal addressed the media on Thursday ahead of his side’s game at Newcastle this weekend and Mawson was a hot topic. The Hammers are stated to hold a keen interest in the promising defender, who has been an important for Swansea in the last two seasons. David Moyes is claimed to be an admirer of Mawson’s talents and is keen to bring him to London this month. Carvalhal, though, has made his stance on the matter abundantly clear, stating that it will take a monumental bid to lure Mawson away. As quoted by Football London, the Swans boss said: “When I signed (as manager last month) it was very clear we would try and bring in players to improve the team. We will not sell the best players in January, the message is clear. I have had guarantees from the chairman, but it depends if someone comes in and gives £50million, £100million, £250million.” “You can never say that it will not happen, but the fundamental idea is not to sell players and try to improve the team.” West Ham want to solidify their defence in the January transfer window and Mawson was thought to be one of their prime targets. With a price tag such as this, though, it seems a deal is extremely unlikely.

You put your trust in me last week to predict Steve McClaren's first Newcastle United eleven and I failed. Newcastle 's team spirit was clearly strong against Ronald Koeman's organised Southampton side and it would be unwise to disrupt a confident group, but Swansea pose different questions and

Despite talk of a takeover rumbling on in the background, Newcastle United have business to attend to in the Premier League.

Rafa Benitez’s men welcome Swansea City to St James Park in a crucial game for their relegation hopes.

Swansea, who have recently appointed Carlos Carvalhal, sit bottom of the Premier League, searching for wins to pull them out of the drop zone.

A win for Newcastle could put them into the top half of the table, depending on other results.

Here is how we think Benitez will line his team up on Saturday.

Andre Ayew holding out for Marseille return .
According to reports circulating from Ghanaweb, West Ham forward Andre Ayew is hoping for a move back to his former side Marseille. The 28-year-old spent 8 years in France with Marseille, scoring 45 goals in 152 appearances for the side currently placed 3rd in Ligue 1. Ayew impressed when first moving to England on a free transfer, joining Swansea at the end of his Marseille contract in the summer of 2015. During his time in Wales, the Ghanian managed 12 goals and 5 assists in his debut season in England. West Ham next summer decided that Ayew would be the right man to become their record-signing ahead of the London Stadium move. He arrived in Stratford and joined the Hammers for £20m. In all competitions so far in his career at West Ham, Ayew has played 50 games and socred 12 goals. The misfit was rumoured to return to Swansea this month but West Ham swiftly rejected a £14m bid, holding out for the £20m they paid for him last season. It is thought David Moyes will be willing to sell Andre Ayew in order to target new players this window. If the £20m is offered for the 28-year-old, the move back to France could be desirable for both clubs.
