Saunders considering a move to Eubank's weight division

Saunders considering a move to Eubank's weight division Billy Joe Saunders has indicated he could move up a weight division to super-middleweight. The super-middleweight division boasts several huge names in British boxing, including George Groves, Callum Smith, and Saunders’ old foe Chris Eubank Jr. Despite this, Saunders doesn’t think any of them could beat him over twelve rounds. ““If a fight comes up for me at 12st there’s not one of those super-middleweights who I don’t think I could beat”” Saunders is currently weighing in at around 160 lbs, and would need to put on slightly over 8 lbs to reach the classification of super-middleweight. Training out of Sheffield with Dominic Ingle, Saunders got a much-needed victory over the Canadian David Lemieux in December, and is due to face compatriot Martin Murray in April. If Saunders can defeat Lemiuex, there have been whispers of a unification fight with the winner of the second Gennady Golovkin-Canelo Alvarez bout. Regardless, Saunders seems as though he would be happy to bump up a division to beat boxers from the UK. ““Take James DeGale out of it and there’s not one good boxer, there’s not one of them who could handle a good boxer, none of them. It has been proven. George Groves got in there with a good boxer (Carl Froch), got beaten, Chris Eubank got in there with a good boxer, got beat, Callum Smith (is) yet to be tested. None of them could handle a good boxer.”” ““They’re all brilliant money fights, all of them. They’re all good money-spinners and that’s what it’s about.”” All eyes will be on that April 14th clash with Murray to see where Saunders will decide to go next. Victory could see him pursue world glory against the supreme Golovkin or the incredibly special Alvarez, but defeat could lead to a potential series of enticing domestic fights for the UK audience.

Tyson Fury has accused Chris Eubank Snr of trying to use Nick Blackwell's horror injury as a threat ahead of his son's world title fight against George Groves.

Blackwell was placed in an induced coma after suffering severe head injuries in his stoppage defeat to Eubank Jnr in March 2016, retiring from the sport as a result.

Groves and Eubank Jnr meet in the semi-finals of the World Boxing Super Series with the WBA and IBO super middleweight titles on the line on 17 February and on Wednesday evening. Eubank Snr posted a warning to Groves on Twitter, including a video interview of an emotional Fury discussing the night when Blackwell was taken to hospital. "Take a look at this video and you'll understand why I am protective to you," Eubank wrote in a tweet directed towards Groves.

Fury had been set a deadline of January 31 to confirm an opponent for his return to the ring, after an absence of more than two years, but he failed to do so.As a result, he has been stripped of the title that the American publication awards to the fighter that it recognises as the "lineal" champion. Fury originally won THE RING belt when he beat Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015, also claiming the IBF, WBA 'super' and WBO titles."We deeply regret separating from the lineal championship," a statement from THE RING read.

Chris Eubank Snr told his son not to aim for Blackwell 's face at the end of the eighth round. Peter Fury , Tyson Fury 's uncle and trainer, wrote on Twitter: 'All signs looking great; just heard from Mick (Henessey - Blackwell 's promoter).
