Three standout Saints: West Brom (A)

Three standout Saints: West Brom (A) After a touching tribute to the footballing legend, Cyrille Regis, Southampton edged a 3-2 win against fellow strugglers West Brom at the Hawthorns on Saturday. The Saints’ win has put them up to 14th in the Premier League and has put their winless run of 12 games to an end. It was the hosts who started the brightest as Ahmed Hegazi headed in a Chris Brunt corner within the opening minutes of the game to give Alan Pardew’s side the lead However, the visitors equalised minutes before half-time as Mario Lemina produced a moment of magic and scored from distance. Southampton put themselves ahead minutes later as Jack Stephens, once again, scored an excellent header from James Ward-Prowse’s delivery from a corner. Pellegrino’s side extended their lead when Wesley Hoedt was tripped up just outside the box and James Ward-Prowse stepped up, despite some disagreement between him and Sofiane Boufal, and curled the ball past Ben Foster. The Baggies managed to get back into the game with Solomon Rondon heading in Brunt’s cross but Southampton managed to keep a hold of their lead. The Saints displayed one of their best performances of the season and with that being said, here are my three standout Saints. James Ward-Prowse Ward-Prowse, once again, produced an impressive effort to help Southampton gain all three points away from home. His expertly taken free-kick and inch-perfect corner deliveries demonstrate why he’s an valuable player in this year’s Saints side.

Robin Lopez lashes out at chair after ejection A poor, innocent chair was the latest victim of a Robin Lopez rampage.Despite his team being up 16 points with four minutes left in the second quarter Monday, Lopez believed the officials were missing some obvious fouls against him and decided to plead his case.

Mario Hezonja only had 14 points , but he accomplished a prestigious feat: the "scrub by five", where a scrub/role-player gets at least 2 of every major statistical category. Mario Hezonja Full Highlights 2018.02.12 at Bulls - 24 Pts, 14 in 4th, 2 Blks! |

LaVine finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. Bobby Portis added 19 points and seven boards, and Jerian Grant had 14 points and seven assists.

Hezonja led Orlando with 24 points, and Evan Fournier scored 22.

The Bulls appeared in control when they led 93-75 with 8:23 left after an 11-0 run. Denzel Valentine punctuated that spurt with a dunk and two free throws.

But the Magic went on a big run of their own, with Hezonja leading the way. He nailed a 3-pointer to give Orlando a 98-96 lead with 3:07 remaining. Portis tied it with a floater and responded to a 3 by Fournier with one of his own, making it 101-all with 2:29 left.

Magic: C Nikola Vucevic (broken left index finger) is eyeing the first game after the All-Star break — Feb. 22 against New York — for his return. Sidelined since late December, Vucevic said his conditioning is there, but he is still getting “more comfortable with the hand.” “(I’ll) keep working out during the break,” he said. “Then after the break, I’ll come back and have a couple practices with the team and get it straight going into the Knicks.” … F Aaron Gordon (strained left hip flexor) missed his seventh straight game and likely won’t return prior to the break, coach Frank Vogel said.

Antonio says Joao Mario is technically unbelievable

Antonio says Joao Mario is technically unbelievable Michail Antonio has spoken to West Ham United and has praised new loan signing Joao Mario, as per HITC. Mario came to the London Stadium on loan from Italian giants Inter Milan for the rest of the season, as the Hammers look to climb up the Premier League table. The Portuguese midfielder is getting used to the English game, where he has never played before and is still looking for his first win in a claret and blue shirt. However, this hasn’t stopped Michail Antonio, who made his first appearance back in a West Ham shirt in the match at Brighton, having been out of the squad since the 3-2 home loss to Newcastle United. In an interview with the club, Antonio said about his new teammate (via HITC): “I’m very impressed with Mario. He’s a very technical player with nice flair and his awareness is unbelievable.” Mario will be looking to help the Hammers climb from twelfth in the Premier League and get further away from the relegation zone, where they are only three points away from currently. The next challenge is Watford at home, who are hot off beating Chelsea 4-1 earlier in the week. Mario will be looking to impress, as will the rest of the squad, to beat the team David Moyes lost to in his first game as Hammers boss.

Bulls: G Kris Dunn missed his 11th consecutive game, and coach Fred Hoiberg wasn’t sure if he will be ready to return against Toronto on Wednesday. If Dunn doesn’t play against the Raptors, he still might compete in the Rising Stars Challenge during All-Star weekend. “Right now it’s just about reconditioning himself, getting himself ready to sustain minutes in an NBA game,” Hoiberg said. “He’s just not quite there yet, he’s making progress. He’s still very sore from the increase in workload that he’s been doing this past week.”

Magic: Host Charlotte on Wednesday.

Bulls: Host Toronto on Wednesday.

Inter offer West Ham hope over permanent switch for Mario .
Inter Milan are prepared to sacrifice three of their midfielders in the summer – one of which is Joao Mario – in order to keep Rafinha on a more permanent basis, according to reports in Italy. The Portugal international joined the Hammers on loan until the end of the season late in the January transfer window, and has reportedly settled in London rather well. Football.London report that, although the initial terms of the loan deal did not include an option for a permanent transfer, West Ham are keen to keep the 25-year old if he continues to impress and if the player wants to remain with the club. Tuttosport in Italy claim that as well as Mario, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Marcelo Brozovic are also available, as the Nerazzurri look to pursue a permanent transfer for current Barcelona-loanee Rafinha. Mario signed for Inter for €40million two summers ago from Sporting Lisbon, and the club would look to get much of that fee back this summer if they do move him on, with the Italian giants willing to except €30million. Mario feels that he is improving as a player having played in the Premier League, last week saying; “The intensity of the English game is high and that’s good for me because it will add things to my game that I don’t have yet. I’m happy to be playing at this level and will try to improve myself every time I go onto the pitch.” “I will try to do my best. It’s important for me to show my quality in a West Ham shirt. I am glad to be here and I will give everything.” “I can see right away that the game is really fast and physical.” West Ham currently sit in 12th place in the Premier League on 30 points, just four points above the relegation zone.
