Pellegrino happy with Redmond's efforts in FA Cup win .
Mauricio Pellegrino praised Nathan Redmond following his return to first-team action against West Brom. Speaking to the club’s official website, Southampton boss Pellegrino explained that Redmond is working his way back to his top level and expressed his happiness with how he performed at the Hawthorns. “Nathan is looking to rediscover his best level. It will take time for us to get him there again together.” Redmond made his first start for Saints in 2018 against West Brom in the FA Cup clash and helped the team to a 2-1 win. The England international was excluded from the matchday squad on several occasions in January but has since been reintegrated. He had played only 33 minutes of competitive football since the turn of the year before the game at West Brom. Redmond showed signs of rustiness but generally performed well, working hard on the flank and using his pace to drive Saints up the pitch as Pellegrino looked to counter-attack. “It is never easy coming back into the team after a spell out of it but I was impressed with him today, he had some good moments.” The 23-year-old will now hope that he can re-establish himself as a key player in Pellegrino’s plans between now and the end of the season.
