Press conference: Groves v Eubank jr (Sky Sports)

Chris Eubank Jr wants title fight after loss to Groves

Chris Eubank Jr wants title fight after loss to Groves Chris Eubank Jr is open to any route he can take which could see him win a world title after suffering a points defeat against George Groves on Saturday, Sky Sports report. Eubank Jr who suffered his second defeat as a professional in Manchester, stepped up to super-middleweight last year to take part in the World Boxing Super Series at that weight, and defeated Avni Yildirim in October which set up the semi-final clash with Groves. However, Eubank Jr is now open to any possible route that could lead him to a world title fight, including stepping down a weight division. Talking after the fight holding an ice pack to his right eye, Eubank Jr said: “I’m going to take whatever route I can take to win a world title. The man who George beat – James DeGale – he’s out there, that’s a potential fight for me and there are some great fights out there at middleweight, so it’s just a case of which one we can get first.” Despite the unanimous points defeat against Groves, Eubank Jr could still yet potentially get a call to fight either Callum Smith or Jurgen Braehmer in the Super Series final if Groves is unable to overcome the dislocated shoulder he appeared to suffer late on in the bout.

Chris Eubank Jr has vowed to take the WBA title from Groves in Manchester on Saturday night. Callum Smith firmly believes he has 'the beating' of Groves or Eubank Jr . Eubank Jr : You ' re jealous , George .

Eubank Jr , who has won his last eight fights since losing on points to Billy Joe Saunders in November 2014, added that Groves’ comments were likely down to jealousy . I think you ' re jealous , George .”

Chris Eubank Jr accused George Groves of jealousy and promised to disprove any doubts about his credibility in this weekend’s world title fight.

The British super-middleweight rivals were reunited at the final press conference for Saturday's semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series in Manchester, and Eubank Jr was eager to address recent criticism by Groves.

The reigning WBA 'super' champion has mocked his opponent's use of social media, branding him as 'Insta-famous', but Eubank Jr confidently vowed to show that he belongs at the top level of the sport.

He said: "You've called me a 'gimmick' and 'Insta-famous' and you are obsessed with this whole - trying to get across to the public that I'm not real.

"I think it's plain to see that is ludicrous, and if anything I think you would love to be me. You would love to be in my position, you would love to have the Instagram followers and the style.

James DeGale's trainer predicts the winner of Eubank-Groves

James DeGale's trainer predicts the winner of Eubank-Groves James DeGale’s trainer has predicted the winner of the upcoming bout between George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr. Degale lost his IBF hardware to Caleb Truax last year, but now eyes are on the British domestic fight this weekend. Jim McDonnell challenged for world titles twice himself, and has had some fairly strong opinions on the fight taking place on Saturday. “If you look at Groves, he’s mixed with the likes of James DeGale and Carl Froch. Eubank hasn’t beaten anyone. This fight is really a tried, tested and proven fighter against a hot prospect. Groves is very, very experienced. Look at his amateur pedigree compared to Eubank’s. They’re gulfs apart. I don’t think Eubank realises what a difficult job he’s got on his hands here. He’s got a great mentality, but is he really a super-middleweight?” Eubank first stepped up into the super-middleweight division in February of last year, where a win against Australia’s Renold Quinlan in ten rounds handed the 28-year-old the IBO super-middleweight division title. The Hove-native then defended the belt twice last year, against Arthur Abraham and Avni Yildirim. The test against George Groves poses to be the greatest Eubank has had since he lost to Billy Joe Saunders in November of 2014. The WBA title-holder in the weight division, Groves hasn’t lost in his last six fights and McDonnell thinks he won’t lose the streak now.

I think you ’ re jealous , George .” Eubank Jr has spoken about now being the time for him to step out of his famous father and namesake’s shadow, and the 28-year-old says victory on Saturday, to make him “the best super-middleweight in the world”

"You are even wearing the same suit that I wore when we had our first face-off, hyping the fight.

Groves gave a dismissive response to Eubank Jr's claims of how he dominated past sparring sessions, reiterating his determination to win the inaugural competition.

"I came here today, because I don't really need to engage with Eubank too much, because Junior is Junior," said Groves.

"He's flapping already, referring back to sparring, he is a cliché, he is a gimmick. I've been here, I've done this many, many times. This is just another step along my journey.

"I'm in great shape. I'm ready to do a proper number on him on Saturday night. I'm the legitimate world champion sitting at this table. I'm the No 1 seed in this tournament, and I will go on to win this tournament."
