Anthony Crolla predicts Eubank Jr win in semi-final Former lightweight world champion Anthony Crolla has predicted an incredibly close fight when Chris Eubank Jr takes on George Groves this weekend but is slightly leaning towards Eubank Jr, according to a report on the Daily Star. The two British fighters will go head to head in the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series in Manchester on Saturday night, with Eubank Jr having his IBO title on the line, whilst Groves is at risk of losing his WBA title. Everyone in the world of boxing is finding it difficult to separate the two fighters and Crolla faced the same problem when he was asked to decide on a winner. Crolla said: “Honestly, that is so tough. I’ve changed my mind around five times.” “I’ve got a lot of interest in it because a good friend of mine, Callum Smith, is in the other semi-final and I fancy him to come through and fight the winner of them in the final.” “At the minute, I’m with Eubank Jr but it’s such a 50/50 fight.” The fight is one of the most eagerly anticipated contests in British boxing and there is expected to be around 20,000 fans in the Manchester Arena to witness the clash. Groves has been disappointed that so many people have written him off already and is keen to prove everyone wrong in the ring.

The British super-middleweight rivals were reunited at the final press conference for Saturday's semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series in Manchester, and Eubank Jr was eager to address recent criticism by Groves.

The reigning WBA 'super' champion has mocked his opponent's use of social media, branding him as 'Insta-famous', but Eubank Jr confidently vowed to show that he belongs at the top level of the sport.

He said: "You've called me a 'gimmick' and 'Insta-famous' and you are obsessed with this whole - trying to get across to the public that I'm not real.

"I think it's plain to see that is ludicrous, and if anything I think you would love to be me. You would love to be in my position, you would love to have the Instagram followers and the style.

Groves gave a dismissive response to Eubank Jr's claims of how he dominated past sparring sessions, reiterating his determination to win the inaugural competition.

"I came here today, because I don't really need to engage with Eubank too much, because Junior is Junior," said Groves.

"He's flapping already, referring back to sparring, he is a cliché, he is a gimmick. I've been here, I've done this many, many times. This is just another step along my journey.

Groves believes he will be fit for the Super Series final .
George Groves has revealed that he believes he will be fit to fight in the World Boxing Super Series final despite dislocating his shoulder against Chris Eubank Jr on the weekend, according to a report on the Liverpool Echo. Although further scans and assessments are needed, Groves believes that he can recover from the injury in time for the final, which is currently pencilled in for 2nd June. Groves will see a specialist this week regarding the injury and will be given further information. Groves said: “The shoulder’s okay. It’s back in now. (I) had some x-rays, going to go and see a specialist either later today or tomorrow.” “I’m confident that hopefully it’s not going to be something that’s a big problem.” “I think it’s only a really big problem if you damage the bone. The x-ray didn’t show any of that. I can’t hide the fact I got a dislocated shoulder, but hopefully I’ll be okay.” Groves won the semi-final against Eubank Jr on points after an intriguing 12 rounds. Groves simply out-boxed his opponents and landed more punches despite attempting fewer than his rival. Groves will meet either Callum Smith or Jurgen Braehmer in the final but if Groves can’t recover in time, then a replacement fighter may need to be found to compete. The British fighter is desperate to compete in the final and knows that he has a history of making quick recoveries from injuries, which is one of the things that is keeping him confident at the moment.
