Chelsea interested in Umar Sadiq

Chelsea interested in Umar Sadiq Chelsea are reportedly keen to sign promising Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq when the summer transfer window opens. The Blues have already been linked with a number of attacking options ahead of the summer, and recent reports suggest that they have identified Sadiq as one of their targets. Sadiq joined Torino on loan last summer as Roma aimed to deliver first-team football for the promising youngster. However, the striker managed to muster up only three appearances in Serie A this season, meaning that his parent club opted to terminate his loan with their fellow Italian side. Roma then made the decision to loan Sadiq out to Eredivisie club NAC Breda, where he is currently in a good spell of form. The 21-year-old has found the net on three occasions in the Dutch top flight from only six appearances. Just two of these came as starts. Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Sadiq back in 2016 but saw their efforts to sign him from Spezia fall through as a result of an agreement between the club and Roma.

The Bosnia international was the subject of an offer and negotiations with the Blues, but is re-focused on Serie A and Champions League commitments.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season at Old Trafford this season and was rewarded with a maiden call-up into the McTominay, who was born in Lancaster so is also eligible to play for England, played a key role in United's recent matches against Sevilla, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Edin Dzeko was flattered by Chelsea's January interest but maintains he remains happy at Roma.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina striker was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window and, while Emerson Palmieri did make the move from the Stadio Olimpico to west London, Antonio Conte was forced to fill his striking vacancy with a deadline-day swoop for Arsenal's Olivier Giroud.

Dzeko's form seemingly tailed off in the aftermath of the saga but he landed a punishing blow against Napoli's Serie A title ambitions with a brace in Roma's impressive 4-2 win at the start of this month.

Dzeko was "really pleased" with Chelsea interest

Dzeko was Roma striker Edin Dzeko has admitted that he was “really pleased” that Chelsea made such efforts to sign him in the January transfer window. Speaking to the Italian media, as quoted by the Daily Mail, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international opened up on his plans for the future and insisted that he is more than happy with life at Roma. “I am happy in Rome, with life in Rome and I don’t like to look back at media rumours.” However, Dzeko did indeed admit that the level of interest from Chelsea was pleasing, with the Blues narrowly missing out on a deal for the ex-Manchester City striker. “They are sometimes true, sometimes just pumping for clicks. There was an offer, negotiations and I was really pleased that Chelsea wanted me. That is all I want to say about that, while I am enjoying in Rome.” Dzeko has been in good form for Roma this season and is a hugely important player for the Serie A side. The club did not want to part company with the player during the mid-season transfer window and as a result of his contract demands, Chelsea walked away from the deal. The Blues instead pursued Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud as their alternative to Dzeko, but the Frenchman is yet to find the net for the club since his move.

"We have spoken with both players and agreed to hold contract talks in April and then we’ll see," he told reporters. "It's true, Franck has played superbly this Saturday, Arjen too. Both scored great goals.

"For example, Willian Jose has had two great seasons at Real Sociedad and is really developing as a player. He has great movement as an athlete and a good overall game. Bayern plan contract talks with Robben and Ribery.

The 31-year-old was suspended for the 3-0 win over Torino last time out but is primed for action as Eusebio Di Francesco's side welcome Shakhtar Donetsk in the last-16 of the Champions League on Tuesday, aiming to overturn a first-leg deficit.

"I am happy in Rome, with life in Rome and I don't like to look back at media rumours," the former Manchester City and Wolfsburg man told SportCentar in his homeland.

"They are sometimes true, sometimes just pumping for clicks. There was an offer, negotiations and I was really pleased that Chelsea wanted me.

"That is all I want to say about that, while I am enjoying in Rome."

Dzeko's double against Napoli also netted him a piece of history as reached the 50-goal mark in Serie A.

Having already done likewise in the Bundesliga and the Premier League, he is the first player to have brought up the landmark in three of Europe's big five leagues.

"I am proud to be first player to score 50-plus goals in three major leagues, I didn't even know no one managed that before me," he added.

"Each league is specific and I've done it in Germany, England and Italy."
