  Liverpool must pay £59m to land Jorginho Liverpool are understood to be eyeing a move for Napoli midfielder Jorginho in the summer as a replacement for the outbound Emre Can, and the Serie A leaders have named their asking price for the player. Italian publication Sport Il Mattino claim that Napoli will listen to offers in the region of £69m for their star midfielder who has impressed since his move to Naples for £8.5m from Hellas Verona in January 2014. The Reds are growing increasingly keen to tie up a deal for the midfielder this summer and are believed to have already made an approach to sign him, according to an exclusive report from Brazilian news outlet UOL. Capped three times by Italy, the 26-year-old is tied to Napoli until 2020 and is regarded as one of the best holding midfielders in European football today. Paul Joyce of the Times reported that Jorginho is Liverpool’s top target to become their new ‘No.6’ in midfield with Emre Can set to leave the club when his contract expires. Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United have both also been linked with a summer swoop for the Napoli star.

Liverpool have often been scuppered in the transfer market as clubs who they wish to purchase players from won’t sell without having a replacement in the door.

So, the news that Napoli have apparently agreed to sign midfielder Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria should come as a boost to the Reds, who have their eye on Jorginho.

Liverpool look to be in the market for a player who can play in the deepest role of their midfield three as Jordan Henderson’s injury record has been poor in recent months, whilst Emre Can looks like he’ll be leaving the club.

Liverpool are in the market for a new midfielder but it looks like that man won’t be Kondogbia, with Italian Jorginho looking the most likely player to make a switch to Anfield.

LIVERPOOL have been given another fillip in their bid to land former Kop favourite Xabi Alonso. They note that Real tried to sign Illarramendi last summer, but baulked at the steep asking price for the Real Sociedad midfielder.

Italian international Jorginho is the man being tipped to fill the void in Jurgen Klopp’s squad and with Napoli forking out around €25m to sign Torreira, they could well be preparing to cash in on their star midfielder.

Liverpool would likely need to pay around £50m to get the 26-year-old and by all accounts, they will be willing to splash the cash to get him.

Liverpool are confident of of beating Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United to the signing of Napoli midfielder Jorginho, according to a report in the Mirror. The Reds are looking to add another midfielder in the summer as Emre Can looks certain to be leaving the club, and Jorginho seems to be their number one target. According to the report, the Reds will be favourites to get a deal for the Italian international over the line, even if Arsenal and Man United enter the fray, although and interest from Spain could complicate matters as the Brazilian-born midfielder would like to play for either Barcelona or Real Madrid at some point in his career. Napoli will be looking for upwards of £50m for Jorginho but Liverpool have the ability to spend that type of cash if they deem a player to be worth that amount. If the Italian international does arrive at Anfield, he’ll be battling captain Jordan Henderson for a place in the side and he will be favourite to come out on top in that particular duel.
