Smith reveals what De Kock said to anger Warner

Smith reveals what De Kock said to anger Warner Australia captain Steve Smith has revealed that David Warner was angry with Quinton de Kock because the South African made “personal” comments to him, according to a report on Cricket365. CCTV footage captured the moment that Warner confronted de Kock as the players were about to go into their dressing rooms for a tea break on the fourth day of the first Test. The International Cricket Council have revealed that they are going to investigate the incident and will request a report from the umpires. However, Smith made it clear that he believes there is no place for such behaviour in cricket. He said: “What was said and done during that interval was regrettable from both sides. Quinton [de Kock] got personal and evoked an emotional response from Davey [Warner].” “I think those things are not on, from both sides. Getting personal on the field is not on, and that’s crossing the line in my opinion.” “Right now, it’s in the hands of the umpires and the match referee. We want to see the match played in a hard-fought way in the next few Test matches, but played in the spirit of the game.” Initial reports are suggesting that De Kock made a comment about Warner’s wife which left the Australian fuming. The opening batsman had to be held back by his teammates as he went to approach De Kock during the heated exchange. Both players could face a ban for their behaviour in the incident.

ART’s Anthoine Hubert replicated both his and the French outfit’s early pre-season form to go fastest as the second GP3 test of 2018 began at Jerez.

Hubert, who was quickest overall on the second day at Paul Ricard last month, set a time of 1m30.449s in the afternoon session.

The Frenchman ended above MP’s Dorian Boccolacci, who could only get within 0.022s of the pace.

Leonardo Pulcini finished third above Italian compatriot Alessio Lorandi, and Simo Laaksonen.

Lorandi, who won the sprint contest at the circuit last October, claimed the best time of the morning.

The Italian rose to first in the dying embers of a wet-dry session as the drivers gradually returned to near-normal times, with Lorandi just a tenth adrift of that of Nirei Fukuzumi’s 2017 pole.
