Crystal Palace eye move for Aleksandar Mitrovic

Crystal Palace eye move for Aleksandar Mitrovic Crystal Palace are lining up a summer move for Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to reports. The Serbian star failed to earn the trust of Rafa Benitez at Newcastle, despite being somewhat of a fan favourite, and he was allowed to join Fulham on loan for the second half of the season. He’s subsequently scored 10 goals in 14 games for The Cottagers and has been a driving force behind their push for promotion back to the Premier League. It looks like Newcastle will be willing to let the 23-year-old leave on a permanent deal in the summer as a number of clubs, including Crystal Palace, have been linked with moves for him. Palace’s issues in front of goal have been clear for all to see so it makes sense for Roy Hodgson to be looking for reinforcements and Mitrovic certainly fits the bill in terms of the profile of striker that Hodgson seemingly prefers. West Ham, Burnley and Fulham have all been linked with moves for the Serbian star, so it will be far from easy for Palace to secure a deal if they do decide to make a move for him.

Mitrovic deal in Newcastle's hands according to Fulham boss

Mitrovic deal in Newcastle's hands according to Fulham boss Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic is keen to bring striker Aleksandar Mitrovic to Craven Cottage on a permanent deal this summer, according to Chronicle Live. Mitrovic has taken the Championship by storm since joining Fulham in January, scoring 10 goals in 12 starts for the promotion-chasing side. However the 23 year old has failed to establish himself in Rafa Benitez’ plans at Newcastle, meaning he could be allowed to leave come the end of the season. Fulham will have a battle on their hands signing the Serbian international if they do not go up, with Premier League clubs such as West Ham reportedly chasing his signature. Whites boss Jokanovic admitted that any deal is in the hands of Newcastle, with Fulham not sure if they will be able to get Mitrovic to leave St James’ Park. “Everything is open, part of another side if you ask me about if I want him with us, yes I want. If you ask if they want to stay it’s probably a yes, but in realistic life we are going to see. This job is for another side and not under my control.” When asked about Mitrovic’s future, Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez said: “We then have to discuss his future in May. In May we will see and if he is doing well, fine no problem.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has lost his place in the pecking order at Newcastle United this season as Rafa Benitez prefers Mo Diame and Ayoze Perez behind his first-choice striker Dwight Gayle and the Serbian is reportedly eyeing a move from the Championship club.

VIDEO REVIEW | Crystal Palace 3-2 Brighton .
In this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast, I review the game against AFC Brighton by giving you my match review, player rankings as well as my Man of the Match. Palace moved six points clear of the bottom three, with just four games to play. All the goals were scored in an incredible first 45 minutes. Wilfried Zaha grabbed the early lead for Palace, which was closely followed up by James Tomkins doubling the lead. Glenn Murray pulled one back for the Seagulls, but Zaha once again scored to get Palace back in control. Jose Izquierdo scored the final goal just before half-time, before a nervy second-half saw the Eagles cling onto their 3-2 lead to register a crucial victory. Why was Wan-Bissaka dropped for Ward? How good were Wilf’s goals? How good was Luka’s assists? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast.
