Browns' 2018 draft picks: Projecting first-rounders, late-round sleepers A look at the Cleveland Browns 2018 NFL Draft plan, including draft order, first-round picks, a Day 2 plan and late-round sleepers. It's a chance for Cleveland's management — led by owner Jimmy Haslam, general manager John Dorsey and coach Hue Jackson — to make an emphatic statement that would put memories of an 0-16 season the rearview mirror. While the Browns are expected to spend the No. 1 pick on a franchise quarterback, Cleveland has five picks in the first two rounds.

After trading up with the Indianapolis Colts to acquire the No. 3 pick in the upcoming 2018 NFL draft , recent mock drafts have reflected New York’s The Cleveland Browns are expected to take USC quarterback Sam Darnold at No. 1 (which Daniels predicts), giving the Jets the chance to take Rosen

So, in other words, the Bills have the ammunition and flexibility to package picks to move up in front of the Jets and get their choice of QBs (not selected by the Browns ). - View Full 2018 NFL Mock Draft - More Mocks : 2018 NFL Mock Draft Database.

With the 2018 NFL Draft less than two weeks away, the first-round picture remains as murky as ever. The first overall pick is still included in trade discussions, and even if the Browns stay put, the discussion moves to the draft’s two best quarterbacks.

Add the flurry of trade talks, and this class is set to be one of the most intriguing in recent history.

While teams like the Bills and Chargers might look to move up for a top quarterback, it’s the teams that don’t need a quarterback (like the Colts, 49ers and Raiders) that might benefit most.

The following trades are included in this mock draft:

— Browns trade No. 4 overall to Bills for picks No. 12, No. 22 and a third-round pick

— 49ers trade No. 9 overall to Chargers for the 17th overall pick, their 2018 third-round pick, and their 2019 third-round pick

— Vikings trade the No. 30 overall to Colts for their 2018 second- and third-round picks

1. Cleveland Browns: Sam Darnold, QB, USC

While Josh Allen rumors persist, the Browns are likely to take the draft’s best quarterback in Darnold. The passer the Browns take first overall will sit behind Tyrod Taylor for at least a full year.

2. New York Giants: Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State

New Giants GM Dave Gettleman drafted Christian McCaffrey with the eighth overall pick last year when he was in charge of the Panthers. Now he has a chance to draft an even better runner in Barkley. Teams have inquired about this pick, but New York seems reluctant to trade it.

Sean Payton issues 'bust' alert on NFL Draft's top QBs

Sean Payton issues 'bust' alert on NFL Draft's top QBs Looking at the top NFL QB prospects, Payton said "I wouldn’t be surprised if only one of these guys is left standing in four or five years."So when Payton says he's not impressed with the highly touted crop of quarterbacks expected to go early in the upcoming NFL Draft, his opinion carries some weight. Payton told The MMQB he'd be "a little bit uneasy" if he were picking one of the quarterbacks from the group that includes (in no particular order ) Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield.

This is Galko’s projection on the Bills grabbing Rosen with the second pick in 2018. Aside from Rosen , three other QBs were selected in the first-round of Sporting News’ mock draft . They project USC’s Josh Darnold taken first overall by the Cleveland Browns .

Our latest NFL Mock Draft for 2018 features the most ideal landing places for six QBs in the first round. NFL Mock Draft 2018. 1. Cleveland Browns : Sam Darnold, QB, USC. 3. New York Jets (from Colts): Josh Rosen , QB, UCLA.

3. New York Jets: Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma

When the Jets traded up to the third overall pick, they knew exactly who they were targeting. New York's decision-makers have made multiple visits to Oklahoma this year, and they spoke at length with Mayfield at the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine. Mayfield also has already been introduced to Jets ownership.

4. TRADE — Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming

a man wearing a uniform © Provided by Sporting News

The Bills can’t leave the first round without a quarterback; they have no long-term starter on the roster, and even their short-term options would be upgraded with the addition of a rookie. While some in Buffalo’s front office prefer Josh Rosen, Allen is more likely to be the pick.

5. Denver Broncos: Quenton Nelson, G, Notre Dame

a football player holding a bat © Provided by Sporting News

Denver needs to continue to upgrade its offensive line, and Nelson is the draft’s best lineman. Nelson, along with last year’s first-round pick in Garett Bolles, can help give Case Keenum the protection he needs.

6. Indianapolis Colts: Bradley Chubb, DE, N.C. State

A dream scenario for the Colts: They land the player they would have targeted at No. 3 a few picks later. Chubb is a special talent and the draft’s best non-quarterback. If he is off the board by the time pick No. 6 arrives, Quenton Nelson and Roquan Smith will be considered.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State

a person wearing a uniform © Provided by Sporting News

With the Saints and Falcons in the division, the Bucs need to keep their secondary a strength. Ward is just as talented as former Ohio State cornerback Marshon Lattimore, and Tampa Bay with him could make huge strides as a defense.

8. Chicago Bears: Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech

a group of football players © Provided by Sporting News

After adding new coach Matt Nagy and retooling their offense, the Bears likely will look to add to their defense early in the draft. Edmunds, only 19 years old, is a special talent and can fit into multiple spots in the Bears’ defense.

9. TRADE — Los Angeles Chargers: Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA

a man wearing a helmet © Provided by Sporting News

Rosen might experience a minor slide on draft day, and if so, the 49ers of all the teams in the top 10 are most likely to trade down. While the Patriots, Jaguars and Bengals all could make a similar move, the Chargers have been quiet during this draft process and need to start planning for the future.

NFL Draft rumors: Bills unlikely to move into No. 2 spot

NFL Draft rumors: Bills unlikely to move into No. 2 spot The Bills have two first-round picks in the draft and are likely targeting a quarterback. With two first-round picks, and a need for a quarterback, many believe the Bills could be a team to watch to move into the No. 2 spot currently occupied by the Giants.

10. Oakland Raiders: Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia

New coach Jon Gruden would love to add to his offense, but Smith is the type of high-character, plug-and-play leader who can help solidify the Raiders’ defensive talent. Cornerback also is a strong option.

11. Miami Dolphins: Derwin James, S, Florida State

Opinion: Browns, Jets, Bills pick QBs, Rosen slides in mock draft © Provided by Sporting News

The Dolphins have expressed interest in Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen, but unless they move up to the top four overall picks, they probably will not get a QB. Instead, they can stay in state and get a high-upside, in-the-box safety to eventually replace TJ McDonald.

12. TRADE — Cleveland Browns: Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa

a man wearing a uniform © Provided by Sporting News

After drafting a quarterback first overall and missing out on Saquon Barkley, the Browns could look to move down and stockpile early-round picks. Jackson is the type of long, athletic ball hawk that John Dorsey likes.

13. Washington Redskins: Vita Vea, DT, Washington

a person holding a baseball bat © Provided by Sporting News

The Redskins will likely use multiple mid-round picks on offensive players, but bolstering their front seven early in the draft is the best way for them to get back into the playoff hunt. Vea can play at the nose or five-technique in their defense.

Baker Mayfield to Browns? 6 picks that would shake up 2018 NFL Draft SN's Bill Bender proposes a sequence at the top of the 2018 NFL Draft that would break the internet and turn the rest of the selection process upside down.Countless mock drafts are out, including Sporting News' mocks from Vinnie Iyer and Eric Galko. It's impossible to predict everything correct, but we want the entertainment value.

The Cleveland Browns would have two of the first four picks in the 2018 NFL Draft next April if the season ended tomorrow. FanSided 4 months2018 NFL Mock Draft : Josh Rosen , Sam Darnold lead way.

Opinion . For the Bears, that means some of the draft ’s best non- QBs might fall to them at the eighth overall selection. Thanks to the Jets ’ acquisition of the No. 3 pick , the Browns can’t wait to select a QB at No. 4. The acquisition of Tyrod Taylor doesn’t change anything, either.

14. Green Bay Packers: Harold Landry, DE, Boston College

a man wearing a uniform © Provided by Sporting News

Green Bay needs a pass-rusher and a cornerback early in this draft, and they’ll likely have the choice between Landry and Minkah Fitzpatrick. Landry has more upside and can be this team’s defensive anchor moving forward.

15. Arizona Cardinals: Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama

Opinion: Browns, Jets, Bills pick QBs, Rosen slides in mock draft © Provided by Sporting News

Arizona lucks into Fitzpatrick at No. 15 overall, and he can be their immediate Tyrann Mathieu replacement with even more capability as a cornerback. If the pick is not Fitzpatrick, the Cardinals could use defensive line help.

16. Baltimore Ravens: Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama

a group of people wearing costumes © Provided by Sporting News

In Ozzie Newsome’s last draft as Ravens GM, it would be fitting for him to select one last Alabama player in Round 1. Ridley is the draft’s best receiver, and he can be paired with Michael Crabtree to finally give Joe Flacco some capable weapons.

17. TRADE — San Francisco 49ers: Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Boise State

Opinion: Browns, Jets, Bills pick QBs, Rosen slides in mock draft © Provided by Sporting News

Moving down from ninth overall would allow the 49ers to stockpile even more draft picks and still get a player they like in Vander Esch. The linebacker is oozing with potential, and the team can’t bank on Reuben Foster ever playing for it again.

18. Seattle Seahawks: Brian O’Neill, OT, Pittsburgh

a football player holding a baseball bat © Provided by Sporting News

Seattle is looking at the top quarterbacks in this draft as well as the top defenders, but it’s hard to imagine them passing on offensive line early. It’s too much of a need, and O’Neill can play left or right tackle.

19. Dallas Cowboys: Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU

Opinion: Browns, Jets, Bills pick QBs, Rosen slides in mock draft © Provided by Sporting News

Sutton and the Cowboys have been linked together for a while, and with Dez Bryant gone, the pairing makes more sense than ever. Sutton needs refinement, but he has No. 1 receiver potential.

20. Detroit Lions: Isaiah Wynn, G, Georgia

a man standing in front of a crowd © Provided by Sporting News

The Lions’ running game last year was atrocious. While they could add a top rusher like Derrius Guice, they’d be wise to focus on their offensive line first and foremost. They can then look to the middle rounds for a runner who can take advantage of the improved blocking.

21. Cincinnati Bengals: Maurice Hurst, DT, Michigan

a man wearing a uniform © Provided by Sporting News

After adding Cordy Glenn, the Bengals in the draft can either look to improve their offense or add a top defensive talent with their first-round pick. Hurst does not address a major need, but he is the type of defensive tackle the Bengals like.

22. TRADE — Cleveland Browns: Connor Williams, OT, Texas

a group of football players © Provided by Sporting News

After moving down from fourth overall, the Browns can get a high-upside defender in Josh Jackson and find themselves in the sweet spot for an offensive tackle later in Round 1. Williams is our top-rated offensive tackle, and in time, he can develop into the franchise left tackle Cleveland needs.

23. New England Patriots: Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame

a man wearing a helmet © Provided by Sporting News

While the Patriots could be looking to make a bold move up the draft board for a quarterback, they instead could fill the huge void left by Nate Solder. McGlinchey has many similarities to Solder and should be a plug-and-play left tackle in New England’s offense.

24. Carolina Panthers: D.J. Moore, WR, Maryland

a man wearing a uniform © Provided by Sporting News

Carolina needs to address some holes in its defense, but adding a playmaker at receiver would address their most immediate need to help them return to the playoffs. Moore is an NFL-ready Z receiver who fits exactly what the Panthers need.

I’m generally of the opinion that there’s more value to elite RBs than elite QBs as early picks in this format, but I used my early draft slots If a player like that slides into the second round, like in mock #1, that’s a steal. Thoughts on 4th overall pick in 2 QB PPR 10 team league that drafts QBs early?

25. Tennessee Titans: Marcus Davenport, DE/OLB, UTSA

a group of people in uniform © Provided by Sporting News

Tennessee would love to see Harold Landry slip, and the team might even look to move up to get him. But if not, the next pass-rusher on the Titans' list in Davenport will have to do. Davenport can basically redshirt during his first season in Tennessee.

26. Atlanta Falcons: Da’Ron Payne, DT, Alabama

a football player holding a baseball bat © Provided by Sporting News

Without many pressing needs, the Falcons should take advantage of deep defensive tackle and offensive line classes. Coaches speak glowingly about Payne’s maturity and consistent improvement during his time at Alabama.

27. New Orleans Saints: Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville

Opinion: Browns, Jets, Bills pick QBs, Rosen slides in mock draft © Provided by Sporting News

Of all 32 teams, the Saints are most likely to draft Jackson, and they’ve had interest in doing so since the middle of last season. With Drew Brees on his way out and the offense changing, New Orleans adding Jackson now would give him a full redshirt season.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville

a football player holding a baseball bat © Provided by Sporting News

The Steelers rarely have selected cornerbacks early in drafts throughout the last two decades, but Alexander fits their defensive scheme. They need to find help for Artie Burns (their other recent first-round cornerback) if they hope to reach the Super Bowl again soon.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars: Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina

Opinion: Browns, Jets, Bills pick QBs, Rosen slides in mock draft © Provided by Sporting News

If the Jaguars don’t make a big move up the draft board, they’re expected to add either a top tight end like Hurst or a receiver like Texas A&M’s Christian Kirk. Hurst fills a more pressing and unique need.

30. TRADE — Indianapolis Colts: Ronald Jones, RB, USC

a person wearing a helmet © Provided by Sporting News

The Colts make a move up in Round 1 to get the running back they like in Jones, who reminds many of Melvin Gordon. After Frank Gore’s departure, the Colts need a plug-and-play running back.

31. New England Patriots: Justin Reid, S, Stanford

Opinion: Browns, Jets, Bills pick QBs, Rosen slides in mock draft © Provided by Sporting News

After adding an offensive tackle with their earlier first-round pick, the Patriots addressing their secondary would be wise. Reid can play either safety spot and slide into a nickel cornerback role, all long-term needs for New England.

32. Philadelphia Eagles: Kolton Miller, OT, UCLA

a man looking at the camera © Provided by Sporting News

The Eagles could look at running back Derrius Guice with this pick if he’s still available, but adding a top swing tackle would be a great luxury pick and a long-term move they’ll be happy they made once Jason Peters retires.
