Sadio Mané is an injury doubt for Liverpool’s final Premier League game of the season against Brighton at Anfield on Sunday.

The Senegal international picked up a knock during last week’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and has missed a number of training session this week as a result.

With a number of key men out already, uncluding Joel Matip, Emre Can, Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool can ill afford to lose the 19-goal winger now – especially with the Champions League final right around the corner.

Liverpool also need a point to ensure they will play Champions League football next season, regardless of how this years final pans out.

Brighton will assess the fitness of midfielder Dale Stephens ahead of Saturday’s Premier League game with Leicester. Stephens has missed Albion’s last two matches due to a knock and has been unable to train this week.

Liverpool winger Sadio Mane given all clear for West Ham clash, but Daniel Sturridge remains a doubt . Sadio Mane has been passed fit to play at the weekend after the winger shrugged off a minor knock he picked in the defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday.

Asked if Mané would be fit, Klopp detailed his injury, saying;

“We will see. It is not the same injury. It’s a fresh problem.”

Klopp was also hoping to have Can back in training this week ahead of potentially being available for selection against Real Madrid later this month, but results of his back scan came back inconclusive. Klopp continued;

“I cannot and I don’t want to close the door on him.”

“Of course it would have been better if he had come back on Monday and said ‘all fine, let’s start’.”

“That would have been three weeks (to the final). Now there’s less time but we will see.”

Jamie Carragher urges Liverpool to sign "another Sadio Mane" .
Jamie Carragher believes that Liverpool needs to sign more attacking options if they are to start challenging for the league title. Carragher believes that due to injury problems, the Reds should go out this summer to gain strength in depth in their attack so they don’t struggle when players like Mo Salah, Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino are unable to play. Carragher spoke to Goal: “You have to be concerned. I thought the squad was very good at the start of the season, but I think what it lacks is cover for the front three. When one of them misses out, the quality coming in is not enough. [Naby] Keita will add quality to the midfield, but I think we do still lack a little bit since [Philippe] Coutinho went in terms of that final pass. Defensively, we’re fine in terms of numbers, but I think we need something more in the final third.” Salah, Mane and Firmino have been an unstoppable trio for Liverpool this season, along with the rest of the squad getting involved with the goal scoring. Carragher has been full of praise for Mane in particular: “We don’t need a striker. We need a multi-functional player. Another Mane, if you like. You could probably play Mane up front if you wanted to. He can play left, right or up front, like someone like Alexis Sanchez can.” “There’s no point bringing in a striker to cover for Firmino and sitting him on the bench.
