Mikel Arteta plans to offer his former team-mate Santi Cazorla a backroom role at Arsenal, if he becomes the next manager.

According to the Mirror, Arteta wants to win over the supporters and he plans to bring in fan-favourite Santi Cazola for the transition of Arsenal, post-Wenger.

Cazorla, who has been at Arsenal since 2012, has been out with a serious injury for the past 19 months.

But in the games he has played, he has wooed over the supporters and plans of him joining the backroom staff could be what gets the fans on Arteta’s side.

Former Arsenal midfielder Arteta, is now the favourite to succeed Arsene Wenger in the next few weeks, after the club finished the interview process.

Arsenal managerial target already planning backroom staff

Arsenal managerial target already planning backroom staff Mikel Arteta is already putting plans in place to replace Arsene Wenger this summer with the Spaniard preparing his backroom staff at the Emirates, according to the Independent. It has been reported that Juventus boss Max Allegri has indicated that he will stay at the club this summer despite reports saying he is heading away from Turin. The Gunners have not come to a definite decision as of yet and they are exploring other avenues, but Arteta, currently Pep Guardiola’s assistant seems to be the front-runner to replace Wenger. The report claims that the Manchester City assistant wants the job, regardless of his position with the Premier League champions. Allegri has not completely ruled himself out of the Arsenal job, but on Sunday he told the media after his latest Serie A title win that he will be staying. “If they don’t fire me, I see myself staying at Juventus next year too.” Allegri believes he can win the Champions League at Juventus and he wants an agreement with the board that they will give him the required financial backing he needs to invest in the squad to make that happen.

Santi Cazorla says the impact of Mikel Arteta on his performances for Arsenal has been massive, with the midfielder offering priceless advice on making the change from Spanish to English football.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager admitted that he consulted with his assistants Rodolfo Borrell and Mikel Arteta before deciding to allow Kolarov in the role . In the absence of Arteta for much of last season, Wenger went in for the partnership of Santi Cazorla and Coquelin.

This follows the news that rival candidates for the post have continued to rule themselves, leaving Arteta as the only serious candidate.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allgeri is now out of the running after pledging his allegiance to the Serie A champions, while Hoffenheim insist that their coach Julian Nagelsmann will be going nowhere.

New York City boss and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has been also interviewed, but it has since been revealed that he has not received any response.

Moving forward, Arteta is considered as what Arsenal are looking for in the wake of Wenger.

He has worked as a coach for just two seasons, most notably at Manchester City who were recently crowned Premier League champions.

But Arteta hasn’t managed on any level and some Gunners supporters are unsure they want an untried manager taking over the reins.

Carzola set for La Liga return with Villarreal .
Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is close to completing a move back to La Liga to re-join Villarreal. The Mirror claim that reports in Spain have stated a move is close, with the midfielder set to return to his old club for pre-season training in a bid to prove his fitness. The move will bring an end to an injury-plagued spell at the Gunners, where Cazorla has been unable to make a mark in the side. With the player’s contract expiring at the end of the season, it was reported that the Spaniard could join Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff, should the former midfielder replace Arsene Wenger this summer. An Achilles problem has meant game time has been nearly non-existent for Cazorla over the last 18 months. Cazorla joined Arsenal from Malaga back in 2012 but has previously enjoyed four years with Villarreal, where he made over 100 appearances before moving on.
