Leigh Griffiths hits back at failed drugs test claim

Leigh Griffiths hits back at failed drugs test claim Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has replied to a claim made on Twitter that he missed last weekend’s match with Hearts due to a failed drugs test. The 27-year-old was not present as the Hoops came from behind to win 3-1 at Tynecastle as Dedryck Boyata, Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair scored the goals for the champions. Griffiths is a keen tweeter and quoted the claim with laughing emojis and hand claps before offering his explanation. Twitter: Brilliant to see people accusing me of failing a drugs test . After a short stay in hospital having a couple scans… (@Leighgriff09) The Scotland international moved to Celtic in January 2014 and has scored 73 times in 116 appearances for the Hoops. This season has been impacted by injury, but he has still scored 13 times across all competitions. He is expected to be in the squad for Celtic’s season closer against Aberdeen on Sunday, although whether he features in the game is still a doubt as there seems little point rushing him back from injury for what is essentially a dead-rubber game.

Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has revealed contract talks are continuing with the club ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Cup final.

The Herald report that the 27-year-old is happy in Scotland and is hopeful of coming to an arrangement sooner rather than later.

Boyata joined to Bhoys from Manchester City in 2015 for around £1.5m having failed to make an impact at first-team level.

He has since gone on to lift three Scottish Premiership titles and should the Hoops beat Motherwell on Saturday, the centre-back will also make it back to back trebles.

His representatives are believed to have begun talks with the club as early as March, with his current deal lasting until next summer.

Luka Adzic could move to Celtic for just £1.5m

Luka Adzic could move to Celtic for just £1.5m Red Star Belgrade forward Luka Adzic, is reportedly in contention of a summer move to Scottish Premier League Champions, Celtic and according to HITC, he is set to leave Belgrade for a fee as low as £1.5million. The forward had been going through contract negotiations with Red Star but it is believed the talks have reached a stalemate. In January, Luka Adzic’s agent Radojica Bozovic, claimed that Celtic were keen on bringing the talented forward to Parkhead. Quoted by the Daily Record, he said: “I know that there is an interest from Celtic, but also some other clubs for Luka, but there was no concrete offer. We have decided Luka would leave the Red Star very soon. His father, and my godfather, Ivan talked with Mr Terzic (Red Star director of football) and the people from the club.” HITC also revealsthat Celtic are to face some competition if they are still keen to bring the 20-year-old to Scotland. Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, PSV and Anderlecht are all allegedly interested in Adzic, whose contract is due to expire in December. The Scottish champions have history when it comes to nurturing promising young footballers on the path to the top and Adzic could be the next young star to be wearing the green and white of Celtic next season and Brendan Rodgers could get his man for a relatively low fee.

Updated: 22nd March 2018, 1:57 pm. DEDRYCK BOYATA has REFUSED to commit his long-term future to Celtic . The Belgian defender’s agent has held contract talks with Parkhead chiefs — but no agreement has been reached.

Celtic manager Rodgers has said that he wants Boyata to remain at Celtic Park beyond his current deal. The former Liverpool and Swansea City boss has also revealed that talks over a new contract have started.

The Belgian has made 37 appearances across all competitions this season and will find out next week if he has made Roberto Martinez’s squad for the World Cup in Russia.

In an interview, Boyata said:

“I am in talks with the club. I have said it before that I am happy here. Right now, nothing is done and it’s not like I can actually say what is going to be done, but I am in talks and we are trying to find some sort of arrangement.”

“I am happy here. I have been talking a lot with the manager and trying to find a solution. I don’t want to say yes and then nothing happens later, but everything is just so positive. I am having a great time.”

Celtic will have to break transfer record to sign Edouard .
Celtic have been given a deadline of May 31 to sign PSG player Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal. He has been a brilliant addition since signing on loan at the start of the season and the Daily Record are reporting that the deal is looking likely now. If they are to agree on a deal for the striker then the champions will have to break their own transfer record and pay £10 million to finalise the transfer. Talks have already begun between the club and the Frenchman’s agent. The 20-year-old scored 11 goals in 28 appearances, including the winner against Rangers in an Old Firm classic which ended 3-2 to Celtic. He hinted towards staying at the club with a post on Instagram where he spoke about the club and said it was “the beginning of a long story”. Edouard missed out playing in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday through injury, but was nonetheless a key part of the treble-winning squad.
