Chelsea ready to meet release clause of Benjamin Henrichs

Chelsea ready to meet release clause of Benjamin Henrichs Chelsea are ready to meet the release clause of Benjamin Henrichs, according to reports. The 21-year-old defender’s contract with Bayer Leverkusen apparently has a £31million release clause built into it and it appears that Chelsea are happy to meet that amount. Henrichs can play in any position across the back four, and he’s also able to play in midfield too, so his versatility could prove vital for Chelsea if they do decide to meet his release clause. Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham were all interested in the defender last summer but he turned them all down and signed a new contract with Leverkusen. However, the player and his agent made sure that the deal had the £31million clause included before he put pen to paper so he’d still get to make a choice about his future if a top side came in for him. It now looks like he’ll get to make that decision this summer as Chelsea look set to splash the cash in order to sign the German international.

The 23-year-old keeper has filled the gap left by the departure of Thibaut Courtois to Chelsea.

But reports in Belgium suggest that Atleti are keen to revise his current deal in order to increase his release clause and to put it on par with those of Jan Oblak and Antoine Griezmann at around the €100 million mark. Carrasco strike sees Atletico beat off Bayern.

Atletico, however, are determined to keep the player at the club, but if they can’t then at least make sure that they get as much as they can out of the deal.

Sarri offered new deal to fend off Chelsea

Sarri offered new deal to fend off Chelsea Chelsea managerial target Maurizio Sarri is set to be offered a new deal at Napoli to fend off any interest from the West London club, according to Calciomercato. Antonio Conte is set to leave the club at the end of the season and Sarri is one of Chelsea’s top targets to bring in. There is an €8 million release clause in his contract but it can’t be activated until the end of the month. Napoli have plans in place to meet with the manager next week to talk over a new deal. His current contract doesn’t expire until 2020, but Napoli are keen to tie down their manager to a further deal to move Chelsea away from their pursuit of Sarri. The Italians are set to offer Sarri a €3m-a-year salary plus €1m in additional bonuses, along with offering him funds to move the club forward after a strong season in Serie A.
