Buffon charged over Michael Oliver comments .
Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon has been charged over comments made after the Champions League loss to Real Madrid, concerning referee Michael Oliver, according to the BBC. The Italian international goalkeeper said he stands by the comments he made about Oliver after the English referee sent him off for dissent in the Champions League quarter-final. In the post-match press, Buffon said the official had: “a bag of rubbish for a heart.” Oliver awarded Real Madrid a penalty in the 93rd minute which Cristiano Ronaldo duly dispatched to send the Spanish side through. Buffon clearly didn’t agree with the decision and he let his feelings be known. “I’m sure Oliver will have a great career in future, but he’s too young to officiate a match like that. A referee with more experience would not have blown his whistle and decided not to become the protagonist of the match.” Buffon’s head coach Massimo Allegri stood by his goalkeeper, the Juventus boss said that for 20 years he had been “a role model on and off the pitch”. There are as yet no details on the severity of the charge.
