Midfielder set to sign three-year deal with Arsenal .
Arsenal are set for two massive boosts this week with Mikel Arteta set to be announced as boss as well as Jack Wilshere signing a new contract, report the Mirror. A compensation deal has been agreed with Manchester City to bring the Spaniard in, with manager Pep Guardiola always insisting that he would not stop Arteta from leaving to take the Arsenal job. Wilshere signing a new contract is a positive start to the transfer window. The 26-year-old has been with the club since he was nine, and was one of few who received praise after this season. Agreeing to stay with the club shows that he is happy with the direction the club is going in, and also shows he is in support of Arteta taking the reins. It is expected to be a three-year deal with the club having the option of a further year at the end. This now ends the interest of many clubs who were hoping to secure a free signing for Wilshere. It was looking set to be an uncertain summer for Arsenal fans, many changes to the backroom staff led to questions being asked about what the underlying plan was. But they can now rest easy knowing two huge bits of business have been done, making the future look rosier than a few weeks ago.
