THIERRY HENRY could join up with Mikel Arteta as part of Arsenal 's new-look backroom staff this summer, according to reports. And the Daily Mail claim he will be offered a fixed role at the club ahead of the new season.

Gunners chiefs are intending to speak to former striker Thierry Henry next week about a possible return to the club, according to Sky Sports.

Mikel Arteta is still the number one candidate to succeed Arsene Wenger, as Arsenal executives sit down with the Spaniard today to discuss his appointment.

There has been plenty of speculation over who will take over from Wenger and Arteta seems to lead the way following a number of reports suggesting the former captain will soon take over.

It has now emerged that the North London club are also interested in bringing legend Henry back in some capacity, with talks scheduled to begin next week.

Mikel Arteta to consider Santi Cazorla for backroom role

Mikel Arteta to consider Santi Cazorla for backroom role Mikel Arteta plans to offer his former team-mate Santi Cazorla a backroom role at Arsenal, if he becomes the next manager. According to the Mirror, Arteta wants to win over the supporters and he plans to bring in fan-favourite Santi Cazola for the transition of Arsenal, post-Wenger. Cazorla, who has been at Arsenal since 2012, has been out with a serious injury for the past 19 months. But in the games he has played, he has wooed over the supporters and plans of him joining the backroom staff could be what gets the fans on Arteta’s side. Former Arsenal midfielder Arteta, is now the favourite to succeed Arsene Wenger in the next few weeks, after the club finished the interview process. This follows the news that rival candidates for the post have continued to rule themselves, leaving Arteta as the only serious candidate. Juventus manager Massimiliano Allgeri is now out of the running after pledging his allegiance to the Serie A champions, while Hoffenheim insist that their coach Julian Nagelsmann will be going nowhere. New York City boss and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has been also interviewed, but it has since been revealed that he has not received any response. Moving forward, Arteta is considered as what Arsenal are looking for in the wake of Wenger. He has worked as a coach for just two seasons, most notably at Manchester City who were recently crowned Premier League champions. But Arteta hasn’t managed on any level and some Gunners supporters are unsure they want an untried manager taking over the reins.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry will be handed a promotion in his nascent coaching career with the Gunners set to offer him a role as an U-18s coach next Elsewhere, Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta will also be offered a role in the club's academy in a bid to ward off interest from Manchester City.

Thierry Henry is expected to receive coaching offers from a host of clubs. Henry tweeted: “I would like to thank Andries Jonker for offering me the chance to coach the U-18s at Arsenal , which I was honoured to accept.

Henry currently works as a pundit for Sky Sports but also aids Roberto Martinez’ as the assistant for the Belgium national team, so the Frenchman will have to decide whether he is willing to sacrifice his current roles.

It would be possible for the 40-year-old to juggle both the Belgium national team and Arsenal, however, he would likely have to leave his role as a pundit.

Arsenal holding talks with Emery .
Unai Emery is said to be in London for talks over the Arsenal job, according to Guillem Balague. The ex-PSG boss is latest in the long list of rumoured managers to take over at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta has been one of the favourites to get the job despite not having any managerial experience and he is still a candidate despite the new competition but Balague has said Emery is now in talks with the club. Emery announced he was leaving the French champions at the end of April after two years of being boss. The former Paris boss won seven major trophies there as manager but left one year before his contract ends after failing to win the Champions League. He also won the Europa League three years in a row when he was the manager of Sevilla. In the last few days, ex-Arsenal players Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira have both also been linked with the job of succeeding Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger.
