United to rival Chelsea in Hysaj pursuit

United to rival Chelsea in Hysaj pursuit Chelsea could be bracing themselves for a battle with Manchester United for the signature of Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, United are considering a move for the defender as an alternative to Alex Sandro. Sandro continues to be linked with a move away from Juventus, but reports in Italy claim the player is in talks to extend his deal with the Old Lady. Chelsea themselves have been linked with a summer swoop for Hysaj, with Maurizio Sarri expected to be announced as Antonio Conte’s successor. Hysaj is known to have a release clause in his contract with the Naples club, something Sarri could look to exploit if and when he takes over at Stamford Bridge. With Chelsea thought to be closing in on a deal for Sarri, Hysaj is not the only Napoli player being linked with a move. Long-term Chelsea target Kalidou Koulibaly remains a target, while Raul Albiol and Piotr Zielinski have also been discussed.

The agent of Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj has this afternoon revealed that his client could make a move to England this summer, if Maurizio Sarri is eventually unveiled as Chelsea’s new Therefore, Hysaj could follow him.’ ‘Failing that, it would be very difficult to see Hysaj away from Napoli .’

Elseid Hysaj ’s agent claims the Napoli right-back is ready to reunite with Maurizio Sarri in the Premier League but warns ‘he has a €50m release clause’. Therefore, Hysaj could follow him. “Failing that, it would be very difficult to see Hysaj away from Napoli .”

Elseid Hysaj's agent has claimed the Napoli right-back could join Chelsea should Maurizio Sarri replace Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri has been heavily linked with the FA Cup winners in recent weeks after being replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, despite overseeing Napoli's concerted Serie A title challenge in 2017-18.

Hysaj, 24, is also a reported target for Chelsea and was coached by Sarri at both Empoli and Napoli.

Speculation continues to mount that Chelsea will part with Conte in the off-season and Hysaj's agent Mario Giuffredi has suggested the Albanian's future could depend on where Sarri ends up next.

"He has a €50million release clause. I think only Premier League clubs can afford him, so his fate depends on Sarri," he told Radio CRC.

"If the Tuscan coach was to move to England, he could want him [Hysaj]. Therefore, Hysaj could follow him.

"Failing that, it would be very difficult to see Hysaj away from Napoli."

Sarri agrees three-year Chelsea contract .
Maurizio Sarri has reportedly agreed a three-year contract to take over at Chelsea this summer. Reports from Sport Italia claim that a breakthrough in negotiations has happened, but Chelsea still have to agree a fee with Napoli. The report claims that Sarri will pocket around £7 million a year during his time in London. The former Napoli boss has been Chelsea’s number one target to replace Antonio Conte, but their pursuit has been complicated by the manner of his departure from Naples. The Blues had the chance to pay his £7 million release clause but that has since expired, but the Premier League side still need to negotiate a fee with Napoli, despite the club already hiring Carlo Ancelotti as his replacement. The report claims that Chelsea remain keen for Sarri to bring defender Elseid Hysaj with him to Stamford Bridge. David Luiz continues to be linked with a move in the opposite direction. The Brazilian could be used as a bargaining chip to help Chelsea conclude a deal.
