Arsenal keen to land Portugal international this summer

Arsenal keen to land Portugal international this summer Arsenal want to sign Gelson Martins from Sporting CP this summer, according to claims from Portugal. It’s reported by O Jogo, as cited by the Mirror, that the Gunners are contemplating a swoop for the Portugal international as they look to strengthen their attacking ranks. Martins enjoyed another strong season with Sporting and is still being linked with a move to the Premier League. The Gunners were reportedly keen to land Martins in January as they sought out a replacement for Alexis Sanchez. Instead, however, they recruited Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a swap deal with Manchester United for the Chilean. Arsenal’s interest in Martins does not appear to have deterred, though. Although Sporting want to keep hold of their prized asset, it seems Unai Emery’s side will give serious consideration to a bid in the coming weeks. Martins’ contract at Sporting runs until the summer of 2020 and also entails a release clause worth a reported £52.7 million.

ARSENE WENGER is still considering whether to pay Jackson Martinez's £35m release clause to trump Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham and bring the Colombian striker to Arsenal .

Benfica have slapped a £40million release - clause on Arsenal target Goncalo Guedes. The Portugal Under-19 international is still waiting to make his league debut for Benfica, but he has been used in the cup competitions and has also scored seven goals for the club's B Team.

Arsenal have been told that they must meet Steven N’Zonzi’s release clause if they want to sign him this summer.

According to The Independent, Arsenal will have to pay N’Zonzi’s £35m release clause in order to bring him back to England over the next few months.

The report claims that Sevilla are unwilling to sell N’Zonzi, meaning Arsenal have no option but to take the matter out of Sevilla’s hand and match the clause.

The new Arsenal boss has already signed Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus on a free transfer, and looks set to add Sokratis from Borussia Dortmund in the coming days.

N’Zonzi signed a contract with Sevilla in 2017, with his deal expiring in 2020.

Arsenal make second offer for Gelson Martins .
Arsenal have reportedly submitted a second offer for Sporting winger Gelson Martins. Reports in Portugal from A Bola, as cited by Sport Witness claim that the Gunners have stepped up their interest with another €30 million bid. Arsenal are said to have already failed with a €30 million bid for the player, who has long been linked with a switch to the Emirates. Unai Emery’s men appear to be stepping up their interest, despite not improving their offer, in a hope of forcing Sporting into selling. The player does have a release clause in his current contract with Sporting worth €60 million, but that is unlikely to be met this summer. Martins is said to be keen on completing a move to Arsenal, following a controversial end to the season in Portugal. Bruno de Carvalho’s actions have seen a number of players push for moves away from the club this summer, with a free transfer not out of the question following recent events in Lisbon.
