Arsenal eye stunning move for another Serie A defender

Arsenal eye stunning move for another Serie A defender Arsenal have been linked with a move for Juventus defender Medhi Benatia as new boss Unai Emery continues plans to reshape his defence this summer. The Mirror cite Calcio Mercato in reporting that the Gunners have been keeping an eye on the 31-year-old’s situation in Italy. The experienced centre-back was not a regular at the heart of the Old-Lady’s defence last season, only making 19 Serie A starts. He did feature prominently in the Champions League, but boss Max Allegri, who was linked with the Gunners job before the appointment of Emery, is willing to listen to offers of around £20m for the Moroccan. It seems the defence is the key area Emery is looking to strengthen before the start of the season, with Borussia Dortmund’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Freiburg’s Caglar Soyuncu also edging closer to moves. That could leave the likes of Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers looking nervously over their shoulders in the coming weeks. Benatia initially joined Juve on loan in 2016, but signed on a permanent basis a year later and is under contract in Turin until 2020. He had previously enjoyed spells at Bayern Munich, Roma, Udinese and Marseille, and will captain his country at the World Cup in Russia.

Crystal Palace. Everton. Fulham . Huddersfield Town. Indeed, Football Italia are reporting that the Gunners are ready to make a move for the centre-half, claiming that the Serbia international is being seen as the long-term partner for Callum Chambers at the heart of Arsenal ’s defence.

Arsenal defender Calum Chambers is closing in on a deal to spend next season at Watford. Chambers will consider a year on loan as he attempts to revive his career and rekindle his talent. His former club Southampton have also been linked with a loan move .

Newly-promoted Premier League side Fulham are considering a summer move for Arsenal defender Callum Chambers.

Sky Sports report that the Cottagers are keen to add Chambers to their squad as they prepare for life in the top flight.

Fulham were reportedly keen to sign Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas on a permanent deal after a successful time on loan at the club, but Chambers could be seen as a cheaper alternative.

After struggling to hold down a regular place in the Arsenal squad, Chambers spent the 2016-17 season on loan at Middlesbrough, but he was unable to help them avoid an instant return to the Championship.

Sokratis has chosen Arsenal over Manchester United, says father

Sokratis has chosen Arsenal over Manchester United, says father Sokratis Papastathopoulos had the option to join Manchester United, according to his father, but is instead set for Arsenal.Sokratis Papastathopoulos has chosen to join Arsenal rather than waiting for a potential move to Manchester United, according to the player's father.

Apparently, the Toffees are keen on signing the former Manchester United defender but if they fail to sign him, they will look to raid Arsenal for Calum Chambers . Chambers has failed to impress at Arsenal following his move from Southampton in 2014.

Everton could move for £15m-rated Arsenal defender Calum Chambers if they fail to sign Michael Keane. Barcelona line up £60m bid for Manchester United's Anthony Martial and Fulham 's teen sensation Ryan Sessegnon is also on their radar.

Chambers made just 12 Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season and the 23-year-old will want to be securing regular first-team football at this stage of his career.
