Real Madrid identify Conte as their next manager Real Madrid have identified Chelsea boss Antonio Conte as their next manager, according to a report from Marca. It’s claimed by the Spanish news outlet that Real will ‘activate the option’ to land Conte, as they continue to seek their replacement for Zinedine Zidane. The Frenchman’s shock resignation has led Los Blancos to Chelsea boss Conte after they learned that Mauricio Pochettino would be unattainable. Conte’s future at Stamford Bridge has been decided for some time, with the top brass at the club having been actively searching for new managers ahead of next season. Departed Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri was targeted by a deal broke down for the Italian. This has led Chelsea to consider options such as Laurent Blanc and Slavisa Jokanovic, whilst Luis Enrique was also recently linked once again. Conte still has a year to run on his contract at Chelsea but this does not appear to have deterred Real in their interest. In fact, the Blues’ board may welcome Los Blancos’ pursuit of Conte as they would be forced to buy the Italian out of his contract, meaning Chelsea will need to pay their manager no compensation for any potential dismissal.

Despite Chelsea 's problems this season, Conte is still well liked among the club's supporters. For now, they will go about business as usual . Chelsea stressed it was business as usual at the club and that Conte ’s future had not been discussed either after the match, or in meetings. Former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is the firm favourite to replace Conte should the axe eventually fall

It remains business as normal for Antonio Conte, who is planning on returning to Chelsea for pre-season training.

The Telegraph reports that the Italian has told close friends that he is not planning on walking away from his job at Stamford Bridge.

Conte is expected to leave the club this summer but faces the sack with no more top European jobs available.

There had been hope from those behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge that Real Madrid could tempt him away from the Blues, meaning they would not have to pay their head coach the remaining £9 million of his contract.

Conte rejects Real Madrid to respect Chelsea contract

Conte rejects Real Madrid to respect Chelsea contract Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has rejected an approach from Real Madrid for him to become their next permanent manager, according to Sky Sports Italia. According to Sky Sports Italia, as cited by Football Italia, Conte intends to honour his contract with Chelsea. Conte was contacted by Real Madrid directors yesterday, according to the report, with the Spanish club enquiring as to whether the Italian would be interested in the role. However Conte, who many expect to depart the Blues this summer having failed to defend his Premier League title and qualify for the Champions League, passed on the grounds that he wants to respect his current deal with Chelsea. Football Italia comment that Conte may wait to be fired by Chelsea, as he will €10million if he has his contract cut short. Another concern of Conte’s is the mentality of a top side like Real Madrid, where he is concerned over the work ethic of the current crop of players, while he also isn’t keen on the policy of spending heavily on star names.

Chelsea are preparing a transfer shortlist for new manager including Anthony Martial (centre). The transfer window closes before the start of next season, meaning there is less time for clubs to do their business than usual .

However, Sky Sports claim Conte is fully committed at the west London club and will return for pre-season preparations in the first week of July. Chelsea are said to be calm over their manager's situation and sources close to the club suggest it is business as usual .

The former Napoli boss is said to have agreed terms of a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, but the two clubs remain in discussions over a fee.

Chelsea travel to Huddersfield on the opening day .
Chelsea will travel to Huddersfield Town on the opening day of the new Premier League season. It has been confirmed that Blues will make the trip to David Wagner’s side before facing Arsenal the following week in their first home game of the season. Despite not yet appointing a new manager or confirming the future of head coach Antonio Conte, the Blues will be optimistic about the trip to Huddersfield. Chelsea will be pleased with the opening run of fixtures, with only Arsenal and Liverpool featuring from the top six clubs. Games against Cardiff and Bournemouth in September present the Chelsea boss, should Conte leave the club, a good chance to hit the ground running. The Blues also face a busy, but favourable Christmas period with games against Leicester, Watford and London rivals Crystal Palace.
