Dedryck Boyata discussing new deal with Celtic

Dedryck Boyata discussing new deal with Celtic Contract talks between Celtic and Dedryck Boyata are continuing to progress, according to claims from Belgium. The central defender enjoyed an excellent season for Celtic at the back and helped his side to yet more domestic success. His displays for the Bhoys have earned him a place in Belgium’s 23-man squad for the World Cup. It’s claimed by HLN, as translated by Sport Witness, that Celtic have opened negotiations with Boyata as they look to tie him down to a new and improved contract at the club. Boyata’s future at Celtic is hardly uncertain, with it seeming likely that he will stay put with the Scottish champions. However, it seems Brendan Rodgers’ side are making efforts to ensure that Boyata is tied down to a long-term deal. The 27-year-old is a key man for Celtic and if an agreement can be reached between the two parties, it will undoubtedly come as good news for the Hoops’ faithful ahead of next season.

The Republic of Ireland assistant manager could be set for a return to Parkhead.

Celtic have held talks with soon-to-be free agent midfielder Sean Clare, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has rejected the chance to extend his contract with Sheffield Wednesday and as such, he’ll become a free agent at the end of June.

It is reported that 14 clubs, including Cardiff City, Everton, Leeds United and Rangers, as well as Celtic, have held talks with Clare.

It was thought for a while that Clare was going to join Aston Villa but their financial issues mean they are no longer a viable option for the midfielder.

Clare started last season on loan at Gillingham but was recalled in January and was given a chance in the Owls’ first team. Wednesday want to keep hold of the youngster, but he’s already decided that his future lies elsewhere.

Ciftci has not played for Celtic in over a year, with his last first-team appearance for the club coming in February 2017. The forward spent the second half of last season on loan to Motherwell, but was only able to net once in 14 appearances, before scoring twice in his final match for the club. Brendan Rodgers feels Ciftci is not in his plans at Celtic and has decided to call an end to his spell with the Scottish champions.

Celtic have apparently held talks with him over a possible deal, one which could be a relative bargain for the Scottish champions as the compensation that would need to be paid to Sheffield Wednesday would be a very small amount due the lack of appearances he’s made in their first team.

Roberts linked with another move back to Celtic .
Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts is being linked with another move back to Celtic this summer. According to the Derry Journal, Roberts could become available this summer following James Maddison’s move to Leicester City. The Foxes completed the signing of Maddison on Wednesday, which all but ends their interest in Roberts, who was on loan at Celtic last season. Reports had suggested that Roberts could end up at Leicester, with Riyad Mahrez heading to Manchester City. While City are still expected to pursue a deal for Mahrez, Leicester are unlikely to push for Roberts’ signature. The report claims that should a move happen this summer, it is likely to be a loan move, with Celtic facing the prospect of being priced out of a deal. Roberts has previously stated that he would not be returning to the Hoops this summer, but it is yet to be seen how Maddison’s move to the King Power will affect this.
