Southampton make approach for Christopher Jullien

Southampton make approach for Christopher Jullien Southampton have made an approach to the representatives of Toulouse defender Christopher Jullien, according to reports. Saints have apparently contacted the agent of the 25-year-old to gauge his interest in a possible move to St Mary’s as Mark Hughes looks to make improvements to a Southampton defence which conceded 56 league goals last season. Newcastle United have also approached Jullien’s entourage as they too are keen on bringing the former French U20 international to the Premier League. The centre-back played 36 games in all competitions for Toulouse last season, scoring two goals in the process. His performances earned positive reviews in France and it seems like they caught the eye of scouts at Southampton too. Southampton have yet to make any significant moves in the transfer market this summer but will be keen to get some deals over the line in the coming weeks as Hughes will want as much time with his new recruits as possible.

Southampton are reportedly keen to land Sunderland youngster Joel Asoro, but will face competition from Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool. According to a report from the Sunderland Echo, the Saints are one of many teams that are interested in signing the Swedish youngster this summer as clubs circle.

Southampton are chasing a deal for Lazio left-back Jordan Lukaku, according to claims from Italy.

Two years ago, the Saints were linked with a move for the defender but no transfer ended up materialising, with Lazio having been keen to retain the services of their promising youngster.

However, it seems Saints have revived their interest in the player. According to a report from the printed edition of Italian news outlet Il Tempo, as cited and translated by Sport Witness, Mark Hughes’ men have joined the race for Lukaku’s signature.

The Belgian international endured a difficult season in Italy. He was used sparingly by Simone Inzaghi and if reports are to be believed, the player is keen to test himself in the Premier League.

Leicester set to beat West Ham to Lukaku signature

Leicester set to beat West Ham to Lukaku signature Leicester City now reportedly lead the race to sign Lazio defender Jordan Lukaku, who was said to be a target for West Ham. According to reports in Italy, as cited on the Leicester Mercury, the Foxes are now looking like the most likely outfit to pick up the Belgian this summer. II Tempo claims that the player is keen on the idea of playing in England, with a move away from Lazio now looking increasingly likely. Game time was hard to come by for Lukaku last season with Senad Lulic holding down the first-choice left-back slot. Despite making 30 appearances in Serie A last season, only 10 of those were starts. West Ham had been linked with a move for the player as a possible alternative to either Aaron Cresswell or Arthur Masuaku. Meanwhile, Claude Puel could be in the market for a new left-back after it was confirmed that Christian Fuchs would leave the club at the end of next season.

Southampton . Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is a man in demand. Chelsea and Manchester United are said to be keen on the big Belgian, who has told Everton he is eager to move in search of Champions League football.

Southampton are well-stocked with options at left-back but have seen all of Ryan Bertrand, Matt Targett and Sam McQueen linked with moves away in recent months.

Lukaku, 23, is predominantly a left-back but is capable of playing in a more advanced role on the flank.

Newcastle and Southampton make approach to recruit Ligue 1 star .
Newcastle United and Southampton have reportedly stepped up their interest in signing Christopher Jullien from Toulouse this summer. According to claims from Yahoo Sport France, as cited in a report from GFFN, the Magpies have been in contact with the entourage of Jullien as they look to recruit the player. The central defender enjoyed a good season at Toulouse despite his side’s shortcomings, and it’s believed that he’d be keen to secure a move to the Premier League ahead of next season. Jullien, 25, is a physically imposing central defender who developed a strong partnership with Issa Diop at the back for Toulouse. Diop has since joined West Ham in a club-record deal. It seems the acquisition of Jullien will be plausible for Newcastle this summer, but it will not be without competition from elsewhere. Turkish giants Galatasaray have also been linked, but Southampton are understood to be the Magpies’ strongest competition for Jullien. The Saints failed to replace Virgil van Dijk in the January transfer window and are believed to be keen on adding a new central defender this summer.
