The club have confirmed that the former Aston Villa loanee joins the club on a four-year deal. Johnstone joins the club for an undisclosed fee which is believed to be somewhere in the region of £6.5 million. The player’s arrival is likely to signal the end of Ben Foster’s time at the club, with a move to Watford looking increasingly likely for the former Manchester United youngster. The 25-year-old impressed on loan at Aston Villa last season and played a key role in their route to the play-off final. Johnstone’s arrival is a sign of things to come at the Hawthorns with the Baggies looking to shake up their squad in a bid to win promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt. Baggies head coach Darren Moore has praised Johnstone following his arrival at the club. “Sam is young and determined to be the best keeper he can possibly be – he’s hungry to do that with us at Albion. We’ve had him targeted from the outset and we’re all delighted to have him on board. He buys into exactly what we are trying to achieve and will hopefully represent the shape of things to come.
