Kouyate and Ayew having Palace medicals

Kouyate and Ayew having Palace medicals Cheikhou Kouyaté and Jordan Ayew are both due to have medicals ahead of potential moves to Crystal Palace this summer. Ed Aarons of The Guardian claims that Roy Hodgson’s men are closing in on a double swoop for the pair, while an official confirmation over a deal to sign Max Meyer is also imminent. The pair had been expected to move to Selhurst Park this summer, but Palace needed to reach an agreement with their respective clubs. Hodgson has been keen to bring in Kouyaté for extra mobility in midfield, but a deal was held by West Ham looking to send the player to Porto as part of a deal to sign Moussa Marega. Palace needed to strengthen in midfield after losing both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Yohan Cabaye over the summer. Ayew had been expected to leave Swansea following their relegation. He had been linked tentatively with Liverpool and Celtic, but Palace have won the race to sign him.

Crystal Palace tried and failed to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer, with the Eagles hoping to bring the player back to the club on a second loan spell.

According to the Independent, Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Palace put an offer on the table to re-sign the player on loan, but the Blues wanted to keep hold of the young midfielder, who appears to be part of Maurizio Sarri’s plans.

“Steve Parish knows how much we would have liked to get him here again. It doesn’t surprise me that they’d rather keep him and not loan him out. We did all we could do.”

Loftus-Cheek could push foreign loan move this summer

Loftus-Cheek could push foreign loan move this summer Ruben Loftus-Cheek will look to join a foreign club on loan this summer if he does not feature regularly under Maurizio Sarri. The Times reports that the England international is unlikely to be moved out on loan before the closing of the transfer window next week, meaning he will start the season at Stamford Bridge. Loftus-Cheek will still be able to push for a move abroad until the end of August when the European windows close. Should the England international fail to feature during the early stages of the Premier League season, he could be on the move once again this summer. Crystal Palace have been heavily linked with a move for Loftus-Cheek throughout the summer, but it is believed Chelsea want to give him a chance in the first-team squad this season. Loftus-Cheek impressed at Selhurst Park towards the end of last season and caught the eye for England at the World Cup in Russia.

After a troubled season at Palace, Loftus-Cheek finished the campaign strongly, playing a key role in their bid to beat the drop.

It was his form for Palace in the final weeks of last season that saw him earn a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup in Russia.

Chelsea are now expected to keep him as a member of their first-team squad this season.

It is yet to be seen if he will be a regular under Maurizio Sarri or not, but the Blues have been impressed with his development in recent months.

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek targeted by Schalke .
Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has reportedly emerged as a surprise target for Bundesliga outfit FC Schalke 04. It’s claimed by the Mirror that the German outfit would be keen to take the promising midfielder on a season-long loan, with first-team football at Chelsea this term certainly not a guarantee. Loftus-Cheek spent the duration of last season on loan at Crystal Palace and flourished, establishing himself as a key player in Roy Hodgson’s side as the season progressed. The youngster’s performances throughout the season with the Eagles earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s 23-man squad for the World Cup this summer, where Loftus-Cheek caught the eye with some strong displays. However, following the arrival of Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge, Loftus-Cheek’s position and role in the Chelsea side remains unclear. It’s believed by the Mirror that Loftus-Cheek, ideally, would prefer to stay put at Chelsea and fight for his place in the starting line-up. However, with competition for places in the Blues’ midfield increased following the arrivals of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho in the summer transfer window, first-team opportunities could be hard to come by.
