A murder investigation has been launched following a fatal shooting in Walthamstow. The man, who is believed to be aged 20 , was pronounced dead at 22:45hrs whilst en route to hospital.

A murder investigation has begun after a 20-year-old man was shot dead in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said they were called to South Holme, near Garrison Lane in the Bordesley area of the city just after midnight.

The force added that "despite the efforts of the attending medical staff, a 20-year-old man was sadly declared dead at the scene".

A cordon was put up along South Holme and Garrison Lane as "forensic examinations take place".

DI Jim Colclough, from the force's homicide team, said: "We are in the very early stages of this investigation where a young man has tragically lost his life.

"We are in the process of piecing together what has happened and I would urge anyone who has any information at all to call me or my team on 101".

Two men have been killed in London, bringing the number of violent deaths in the capital this year to at least 58. A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death and found on Roth Walk near Finsbury Park at around 3am on Saturday, Scotland Yard said.Police have also launched a separate murder investigation after a man died following an assault in Morden on Thursday.Police were called to Thursday's incident after ambulance staff suspected a man collapsed on London Road had been assaulted.The 32-year-old man was taken to a south London hospital in a critical condition and died the next day.
