Gurgaon: The father of a seven-year-old Adya who died of dengue after a fortnight at Gurgaon's Fortis hospital on Wednesday alleged the hospital had offered him money to end his campaign. Jayant Singh made the disclosure hours after the Haryana government inquiry indicted the private hospital for negligence, unethical and unlawful acts.

Adya, admitted to Fortis on August 31 with severe dengue, died on September 14.

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij has called the young girl's death "a murder".

Earlier on Wednesday the Fortis group had issued a statement underlining that they had not received a copy of the inquiry committee's report.

The hospital hasn't yet responded to the father's allegation that there was an attempt to buy him out.

"Senior members of Fortis met me, offered me a cheque worth Rs 10,37,889 refunding the entire amount... They also said they will be offering me Rs 25 lakh cash on top of this," Jayant Singh told news agency ANI.

In exchange, he alleged, the hospital wanted the family to enter into a legal agreement to cease the campaign against the hospital on social media and not take legal action against them.

A probe into the death of his daughter has found merit in his complaint that the hospital had fleeced him. Jayant Singh had earlier claimed that the family was able to take their child's body only after they paid a Rs. 16 lakh bill that allegedly included the cost of 2,700 gloves.

The probe panel that included government doctors concluded that the girl was alive when she was taken out of the hospital. But she was taken off the ventilator and sent in an ambulance that did not even have an ambu bag, a manual hand-held device to support breathing.

The probe panel comprising government doctors and health officials also accused the hospital of making up to 108 per cent profit on medicines given to the girl and as high as 1,737 per cent profit on consumables. Dr Rajiv Wadhera, the state's additional director general Health headed the panel.
