The new Luas Cross City line between St Stephens Green and Cabra will commence at 2pm on Saturday December 9.

The Chamber, which represents more than 1,300 businesses in Dublin, said the completion of the project will provide a major boost to city centre retailers ahead of the crucial Christmas period.

Dublin Chamber's Head of Public Affairs Graeme McQueen said: "It has been a long 5 years for businesses in the city centre, but it is fantastic to see that the line will open on-time and in advance of Christmas.

The Green Line (Irish: Líne Uaine) is one of the two lines of Dublin's Luas light rail system. The Green Line is currently entirely in the south side of Dublin city . It mostly follows the route of the old Harcourt Street railway line , which was reserved for possible re-use when it closed in 1958.
