GARDAI are investigating if there is a link between the ongoing Hutch/Kinahan feud to the discovery of the body of a young man in a field.

The grim discovery was made at approximately midday today.

Gardai have now confirmed the man's body was found in a field at Walterstown, Dunboyne near the Meath/Kildare border.

It is understood that investigating officers are treating the discovery as suspicious, with early indications that the man has sustained gunshot wounds to the head.

However, the state pathologist will be required to establish the cause of death.

Gardaí have intercepted a man they believe may have been on his way to carry out a shooting linked to the Kinahan - Hutch feud . The arrested man is being held under Section 30 for the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Ballyfermot Garda station.

Gardaí are investigating whether the murder of criminal Mark Desmond in Dublin on Friday night may be linked to the Hutch - Kinahan drug feud . The 41-year-old’s body was discovered in open parkland at Griffeen Valley Park, Lucan, on Friday night.

Gardai have yet to confirm the man's identity but think he may be a young man in his 20s who had been reported missing yesterday.

The man was before the courts last month on firearms charges after a large quantity of ammunition was found in Finglas in Dublin last year.

At the time of the court case, the man was released on bail but his defence lawyer asked that his next court date not be read out in open court as there was "a threat on his life".

The man's car was located in Leixlip.

An incident room has been established at Ashbourne Garda Station and gardai say enquiries are ongoing.
